So my dad told me no computer or tv for stuff other than schoolwork until my room is clean. I seriously need help. I can always manage to clean it, but never to keep it clean. Any suggestions?

Move everything out of your room. (you always have a mess before organization reigns.) Then, pick up each item and either throw it out or keep it. One decision, and don't look back.

Get rid of the garbage as you go, and wash the dirty laundry as you go. Then, put everything in its own place and ALWAYS put it back there. And NOTHING goes on the floor, under the bed, or in the corners of the room. No food or drink in the room. Vacuum.

Make your desk attractive to sit at.

My son's room was so bad that his visitors were stealing his stuff from the piles on his floor. After his first good clean in years, he is a changed fellow. He loves being in his room, he's proud, and he's doing different things besides playing video games. I think if you link the clean room with having more fun, you may have the incentive you need.

oh, yeah, the cleaning may take a few days. Perhaps some extra Mountain Dew would be in order.

Hope this helps.

Ok so first all the junk stuff that you dont need TRASH. Trust me I know. "I just love everything in my room almost every thing is a memory" But someday you'll have to get rid of the junk you have. Second Buy a trash can so the stuff you dont need can go in the trash. Third you can buy some things like drawers that can go under your bed and you can put stuff in it. Fourth you can make some room in your wardrobe and put all the things you don't need in it (thats what I do when my mom tells me to clean. I just pit the stuff that shouln't be there in the little space in my wardrobe and then later on when I have time just pit it either in the trash or on its proper place). Fifth on weekend days you can use a swiper and clean your room so it stays out of jerms. Always open your window to refresh it. When I have a test and have to study and my room is messy I study AND clean my room at the same time so it can be clean. Whenever you see something that shouldnt be on its place you put it back. Its less than 20 seconds to do that unless its something really big and it doesnt have a place:( Trust me its hard to keep your room UNmessy but I try to do this all the time and it works.

Here's the deal. Can you spare 15 minutes a day? If you can do that, you can clean your room. After you've cleaned it entirely, then 15 minutes a day maintenace will be REALLY easy. Get a kitchen timer. Your mother probably already has one, but if not they are VERY cheap. When you get up in the morning, make your bed. When you come home from school, set your timer for 15 minutes. Work VERY hard on cleaning up your room for 15 minutes. Even if it looks clean, try to find something to make it better. (Organize a drawer, clean the closet, vacuum, dust, clean the mirrors and windows, wipe smudges of the walls, declutter...something.) When 15 minutes is up, you stop. That's all it takes!

Try to figure out what goes wrong first with it when it's clean. Is it the clothes that start being flung on the floor? Is it unmade bed? Is it books or schoolwork all over?

When you figure out what the main culprit is, go and do that evil thing the very moment you get home (or the moment you get up, if you can stand it). Most people are only messy in one or two ways and not total slobs, so if you can solve the main problem your room will stay pretty good.

Sounds like what you need to do is figure out WHY you "can't" keep it clean. If you really wanted to, it's likely that you would. There are a variety of storage systems, closet systems, and so on that could come in handy. There's also cleaning as you go - putting things where they belong as soon as you're done with them. At first, it might be hard to recall doing, but once it becomes a habit, you'll have a strength for life: cleanliness and self-responsibility.

Until you care about keeping your room clean you will continue to leave it a mess. Since you're still young you probably won't care for quite a while. I suggest you continue to leave your room a mess until your dad gives you the motivation to clean it. This way it's less stress on you.

Sounds like my room. I've got too much stuff! The garbage can for discards, the plastic boxes for stuff, but you still need to seriously reconsider what your truly need and what is just stuff that makes you feel good. The feel good stuff may need to be greatly reduced. Take your excess stuff to Goodwill or similar place. It will make you feel better.

The rule is everything has a designated place and there it remains unless being used. Man, it's hard.

I worked in a resteraunt years ago and something comes to mind, Clean as you go, dont leave anything behind and you wont have a mess to clean up later. When your done using something, put it away, put clothes in the hamper, just do it for a couple weeks and before you know it you wont even realize that you are doing it, cleaning as you go is a habit.

Drink some coffee, and just clean it all at once. Then set aside about 15 minutes a day to organize anything that may have gotten messed up.

Downsize! Sounds like you have too much clutter. If everything has a spot, it makes it much easier to keep it clean. No spot for it..then get rid of it and No, under the bed does not count as a spot.
