I liked it too, not that it will happen or is particularly correct. But the making fun of the dogma is funny. Alot of people think it is a slam against the Catholic Church, but most Catholics love it, we are able to laugh at ourselves. Especially since almost everyone involved was Catholic too.
It is a good comedy, take it as that and nothing more.
A priest I know even has a Buddy Christ on his dashboard.

Hollywood likes to take something (in this case a typical Catholic belief) and really, really, moive-fy it, commonly ignoring facts, and stretching.
For example would be a car being shot at. Hollywood has shown countless times that, if shot enough, it will blow up. truthfully, not matter how many times or what gun u use, the car will not blow up.
Others such things include a car being safe to hide behind in a gun shoot out, also, you cannot start gasoline on fire with a bullet, it just dont work!
Actually, the movie Dogma is terrible accurate wise, more of a spoof than anything else; nothing is really Biblically accurate.
I'd put it in a category right next to League of ExtraOrdinary Gentlemen (I like that movie too, but its just a movie, with nothing really real) and across from DaVinci Code.

Dogma is one of the greatest riffs on the ridiculousness of religion that has ever been made!
The characters are all based on actual religious doctrine, with the possible exception of the poop pile. The bloody battles between the messengers of god are also taken from the religious texts. In fact there is likely more "real christian religion" portrayed in this flic than most christians know exists.
But to answer your question rather than go on about one of the greatest flics I have ever seen...Dogma was a MOVIE not a documentary - it is FICTION as is the bible and all other religious texts.

Dogma has alot of GREAT ideas...not beliefs! :D The concept of Jesus having a living Lineage is discussed in great length in the popular book "The DaVinci Code." Is it all possible? Sure, if you have strong roots in Christian beliefs. I think the concept of God as a woman is interesting, as well as the message Chris Rock's Character tries to instill in Bethany: It doesnt matter how much or where your faith lies, just so long as you HAVE Faith. It's a very open-minded, healthy way to celebrate your own Faith & accept others as well, which I think is what more people (especially narrow-minded Bible-beaters) need these days.

As much as the movie "probably couldn't happen", it has some very REAL things to say about Christianity and faith/religion in general.
If more people would learn to treat their choice of religion as a GOOD IDEA instead of a stout belief system, we would have a lot less hatred, murder, WAR (Hello George Dubyah) etc etc etc.
Man created the separation in religion and religion continues to perpetuate and justify hate among man.

It is not true? Could it happen? The Bible says "With God, all things are possible". Could that be the answer? Yes, it is an excellent movie. Certainly the best Jay and Silent Bob movie.

That is a really funny movie, but I'd suggest you read the Bible to get the real truth on what's going to happen. Do not listen to Hollywood!

Dogma was not about God and heaven, it was a spoof of the Catholic religion. Watch it again.
I'd say your head might not fit through the pearly gates!!!

I love the movie Dogma. I guess I am going to to heaven, too, then. :-) Allan Rickman was hot despite his anatomical shortcomings.
