Hong Kong was a Crown colony of the United Kingdom from 1842 until the transfer of sovereignty to the People's Republic of China in 1997. Hong Kong Island is the second largest island and the most populated. Ap Lei Chau is the most densely populated island in the world. The name "Hong Kong", literally meaning "fragrant harbour", is derived from the area around present-day Aberdeen on Hong Kong Island, where fragrant wood products and fragrant incense were once traded.
Hong Kong has an active nightlife centred on two major entertainment districts, Lan Kwai Fong (Central) and Wan Chai. Both areas are frequented by expatriates and locals alike. For a more quiet evening, a trip to Victoria Peak offers a spectacular view of the city. There is also a promenade along the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront, which is popular among young Chinese couples. Shopping, a form of entertainment for the people of Hong Kong, is even done at nighttime as evident in the Temple Street Night Market where one can also catch free performances of Peking opera.

Well HK is really different from Main Land China. It is very developped but unlike Shanghai, it has kept a Chinese identity. When you are there you really feel you are in China, not in Shanghai.

The British influence is still present and that's quite good for HK. People there have more manners than in China. They are more educated and show more respect toward others.

The food there is really delicious as it is close to gunagdong province which has for me the best food in China

It is a small but organized country. The means of transportation is really good from the MTR. USA doesnt even have MTR directly to Disneyland and the airport! Its airport is world class and is one of the best in the world.
The ferries are cheaper alternative from Kowloon to the Hongkong side at $2.00. The trams are also impressive, it is running for almost 100 years! Means of transportation is never a problem. Traffic is never a problem.
If the means of transportation is found in LA then traffic problems wont be the same.
However, being so organized in life, they forget to smile to foreigners. It is always misinterpreted by most people as being rude. They should learn to study English since it is frequented by foreigners from all walks of life.
