Ok, My boyfriend now fiance co-signed with me to buy a Car so I could get a better interest rate (Actually He was the principal and I was the co-signer), Anyway, I did ask for a 48 months loan but I was able to finish paying in 15 months, now I got the Title for the car but it has both names in it, my fiance wants to give up all the rights over the car since it was me the one who paid for it. Does anybody can advice on wich kind of legal procedure need to be done? Is anything else need to be pay?

Thanks a lot.

Yes Lady J, we both have the same rights over the car right now, but what he means by giving me FULL rights over the car is that if I wanna sell the car I don't have to ask for his permission to do it since is gonna be only under my name and not both of us anymore.

You can get the title transferred to your name. Since is "common property" is not considered a sale and will not require sales taxes. You will need to pay for the title application. He will need to sign off.

just go down to the DMV and register it only in your name, have him sign the back as if selling it.. it should be about $15 title transfer fee .. unless of course fees went up since I last did it...
