I'm worried about too many things like getting a 6-pack abs, learning how to speak different languages, and stuff like that. My mind can't balance but so much because I have a mental illness (chemical imbalance) in the brain. Please help me. I know my main focus should be on Jesus. But how can these other things I want to do come to pass? What should I do?

God's not going to judge anyone on the basis of what they were born with (or without), but what you did with what you had.

I have brain chemical imbalances too and have to walk a very fine line with respect to what I eat and don't eat.

Just honor God in all you do, and you'll be just fine.

I may not be understanding your whole problem but I wonder if this might help you:

Can you combine some of your interests? For example, if you would like to learn foreign languages, why not get a Bible in one of those target languages, and learn the vocabulary from it? That way, you are learning the Bible, and the language at the same time.

http://www.biblegateway.com/ has the Bible in several languages.

Another idea would be to play hymns or religious music while exercising. Or memorize a psalm or something and repeat it while you work on your abs.

What is important is that you talk to your doctor about this. What does the doctor suggest? Maybe you need an adjustment in your medication.

Prayer will not work without action. Simply by praying and fasting and reading the Bible will not get you anywhere just like that. To get a six pack, you have to be exercising and watching what you eat. To learn different languages, you have to commit to doing so, because it's very difficult.

Even if you do put your main focus on Jesus, there's nothing wrong with having other goals. There's nothing wrong with accomplishing something you want to acheive. Give everything a try, if you don't like it, there's no problem with that either.

listen to me my friend. i am woried with my weit as well. however, do not trouble yourself with getting your weight down in a few days because that will not happen. do not try to work so ard at things like this. if you really want to get your weight down, eatd healthy. eat stuff like salads, vegitables, fruit, and steaks. check with your doctor on the type of foods you should be eating. execise regularily. go for walks around your block. go hiking in the woods. ride a bicycle instead of driving a car or truck. for the languages, try easy words that are the most basic and important of each language that you wasnt to learn. practice as much as you can. the most important thing to do is to pray to God and read your bible every day. go to church and fellowship with other christians. be an active member of your church. it will help take your mind off the harmful and put it onto the important aspects of life. god gave you a body, use it to the best of your ability and concentrate on others before yourself

I don't take "fasting" as meaning you have to deny yourself food. God will meet your needs based on His will. Fasting, to me, is an act of just clearing the noise and distractions and meditating on God's plans. Give control over to Him and let Him speak to you. Live in the moment vs focusing on all that you want to do (abs, languages). So, rather than taking fasting to mean denying yourself food, why dont you look at fasting as denying yourself the worries and anxieties you are feeling.

Who says you can't do all the above?

Are you serious???? Regardless if you have a "chemical imbalance" you can still function like a normal person; only difference is, you are on medication for life.

This verse should give you comfort if you have faith in God he shall provide:

Matthew 6

Do Not Worry
25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[b]?
28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

it feels so good to be in a forum where christian answers are given to help others.
You can have anything you say( and believe) according to Mark 11. Previously, Jesus told a tree that "no man will eat fruit from you hereafter" and the later the disciplines were shocked when they returned to find the tree dried up. Jesus clearly let's us know that in verses 23 & 24:
23For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

24Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

and remember Philipians 4:13: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!!

God Bless
