I went to Carver's for lunch and had a very yummy steak salad! I asked for Balsamic Vinagerette on the side, and skipped the bacon. However, it still had a little bit of blue cheese, walnuts, and grilled onions. OOHHh and a good amount of steak =D

im on the south beach diet so i stayed away from bread. but im worried about the calorie content of the salad. any ideas?

i couldnt find the nutrition facts for Carver's online.

Salads at restaurants are actually one of the worst things you can order. That salad ran you over 1000 calories alone. Restaurants do not use lean meats, nor do they use low calorie dressings, cheeses, or toppings. The bacon saved you a few calories, but not enough to make it healthy.

Next time you want a steak salad, make it at home. That way you can regulate what you are adding and not adding. You can choose lean meats (preferable not red meats) and cheeses. The dressing can be healthier too by making your own or choosing a low fat version.

If you have to count nutritions/calories to lose weight then you're probably eating more than you should or pushing the limit.

So you had steak and some salads. Any South Beach, Low Carb...etc all those lower total caloric intake. Meaning they simply helps you eat less. Nothing magical about them.

Steak isn't exactly the healthiest of foods for you, especially if you eat it often. However, if it's just a once and while thing, you're fine. Just don't eat it daily. And go for the chicken or turkey next time.

A steak salad defeats the purpose of eating a salad.

It negates any benefits.
