Most people, when they first start off sparring, regardless of reach, speed and strength miss on two points:
1) Conditioning - 2 minutes into the first round people tend to run out of gas. So make sure you're well conditioned. The worst thing is running out of gas in the middle of the ring when the other person still has enough to punish you. The best thing is being the other person and punishing the one who did run out of gas. All the reach, speed and strength won't do anyone any good if you can't use it cause you ran out of gas.
2) Remember what you practiced outside of the ring. Apply what you practiced on the heavy bag. Keep your cool, relax and do what you practiced.
If you don't have 1 and 2 covered, no strategy in the world is going to matter. Unless you get a lucky shot in and in that case, throw all you got at the guy and hope you hit him with something that hurts.
If you DO have 1 and 2 covered, then you want to take the reach away from him and find a way to get inside where you'll be effective in your punching but he'll struggle. I suggest the following:
A) If you're fighting orthodox (right hand back):
1) Always keep your guard up.
2) Constantly circle to the left. If the opponent is a southpaw, stay on the outside of their right foot.
3) Use feints to get the opponent to react and then move close and go to work with combinations you have learned.
4) When you want to get away from your opponent and separate, make sure your guard is up and slide out using a left or right angle, DO NOT GO STRAIGHT BACK.
5) When away get a good distance away so the reach can not be used. Once you're ready to go back into action, start back at 1.
B) If you're fighting Southpaw (Left hand back):
1) Always keep your guard up.
2) Constantly circle to the Right. If the opponent is a orthodox, stay on the outside of their left foot.
3) See the above mentioned steps 3 thru 5.
If you're coach isn't teaching you this stuff, I'd find a new coach. Good luck.

I have never boxed against someone taller than me.
I'm short but I know how to use it to my advantage.
If he's taller than you keep your head protected by leaning forward touching his chest. With your head touching his chest you can reach under and work on his ribs and stomach. Keep pounding into the ribs and sides and punch the air out of him, when he is winded you can go for the KO punch to the jaw.

purely throw your punches obtainable and don't hesitate. that's in basic terms making your punches slower and because you're slightly extending your punches and because there is now potential at the back of it, it makes it too hassle-free for the different guy to easily amplify their punch to counter. it extremely is all i will say for now. For extra suggestion, you will possibly desire to coach and get extra in shape bodily and mentally. I propose, the different guy grew to become into status as we communicate and grew to become into exceedingly plenty flat footed. i might have enjoyed you to duck, bob, or weeb and counter on an identical time or throw a pretend jab and make him recoil for the reason that he likes to parry the jab. Then leap in with an exact hook or as we communicate left. Or for the reason that he has no velocity, purely double or triple up on the jab. And plenty extra. the main important concern I see so a techniques is your mentality. prepare and spar extra to lose your hesitation in the previous something.

get in close, bob and weave your way right in, if you get close you can take away his reach advantage, and since he has longer arms, it will make him throw awkward punches, so get in close and work his body
