I think you should go see a counselor. They really know what they are talking about and I am presently going to see one for sexual abuse. It is really helping me and I was the same way as you before I starteed it. People who tend to pretend they dont have depression tend to develop a bigger issue if they dont deal with it or tell someone who can help. Trust me, it could save your life in the long run. Plus it is unhealthy to keep all your emotions bottled up inside. since i have started therapy, i feel like i can open up and i feel like someone cares about me. It can never hurt to give it a shot. If you really cant, ask an adult or family member who can help you. Maybe you could even ask a friend or family member to go with you till you get used to it or till you are comftorable. Good luck and god bless! <3 if you want to talk, you can e-mail me anytime.

There is nothing wrong with seeing a psychiatrist if you need too. Sometimes an antidepressant is the only thing that will help you to come out of your depression. But you can always go see a psychologist or therapist first. Talking through your problems can only help and may be all you need to do. At the very least, find a trusted friend or family member to talk to. Don't carry this burden around by yourself.

You could see a counselor such as a BSW, MSW or someone who has an MA in psychology. It's possible they can help you without the use of medication. I would try that route first. Even if you see a psychiatrist, s/he will probably prescribe medication but refer you to a counselor to discuss your issues. Check the yellow pages or ask a guidance counselor or school nurse if you are in middle school or high school. If you are in college, check with your student health center.

Well most likely not. Some people can't afford doctors and meds so they handle it themselves like i used to. Alot of times it will lead to a nice drug habit because how else can you deal with it. Smoke some bud but drinking and other drugs are bad. You might need some anti-depressants but they are bad too but also could be a god send. You should see a doctor at least once and see what they say or even a psychoanalyst.

This is something that i have delt with recently. I have had depression for years but didn't realize it until lost a child. I went on Zoloft because i knew that i needed medication, and i was open to the idea of talking to someone but i was not sure if it would work for me. I asked my doctor to just give me a list of referral numbers to councelors just in case i needed it. However i have not needed it and i have only been on the medication for 3 1/2 months. I recommend that you at least look into medication because they can give you something that can not only calm you down but also make you feel happier. I hope this helps if you need someone to talk to that isn't a councelor but still willing to talk you can email me at pippinsgirl6@yahoo.com. Good luck

See a psychiatrist. That is the best thing you can do. Maybe you just need to let it out to someone who will listen to you.

If you feel you can't deal with it on your own and the depression is getting worse, see a therapist at your local Mental Health clinic.

You can call a nationwide hotline to chat about it with a professional free. Here is some good info to educate yourself.

Well, what is your alternative living like this?? Your negative view is a sympyom of your illness. As much as the disease can cripple you, it fortunately is one of the mental illnesses that can be trated with a very high success rate. Life is precious, it took a failed suicide attempt to teach me that, do WAHTEVER YOU CAn to make yourself feel better, head butt and break down brick walls if need be do it!! I guarantee that if you do, one day you will look back at this question and wonder who wrote it best of luck

Well, how do you deal with your depression? How successful are you? If your not getting anywhere then it would be good to go see a psychiatrist.

obviously dealing with it yourself isnt working. go to the dr. the first one you go to might not be the right person for you. try it, see if you can find a dr that "fits" you there is a dr out there for you! at least you can say you tried. you have to go into the dr with a good attitude, if you go in thinking it wont help, then it wont. you need to go in to it open 100% lay all your stuff on the table thats the only way it will help. good luck!!
