and btw marrying them you now must stay married to sponsor them for 7 yrs or both of you could be charged with marriage fraud. marrying them does not make them legal either.

If you are a US citizen or permanent resident you can file for your spouse to become a legal resident. File Form I-130 "Petition for Alien Relative" available at www.uscis.gov.

You can petition for them if you are a US citizen. Not sure about a US resident.
