If I were to take tobacco from out of a cigarette, can I smoke it in a pipe, or does pipe smoking require a specific type of tobacco?

Of course you could, but this begs the question, why would you?
The quality of most pipe tobaccos is much more pleasurable than cigarette tobacco. Just think of Cigarettes as a hamburger at McDonalds, and Pipe tobacco as a good steak.
I would check out the many types of tobacco for pipes you can find online, you will not be disappointed:

Check out outwesttobacco's "house blends" you might find them very good as well as cheap. Good luck

Why smoke at all? But if you really must smoke i think you should stick to a Cig at least they have filters, unlike the pipe.
