Contradictions exist in the Bible...sorry you ran across one of those types who insist otherwise. Just ignore it when they do...all Christians do not say things like that, makes us all look dumb.

I don;t deny contradiction. When you have different cultural stories told from varying viewpoints, at various points in history, to various people, in various situation they are bound to have some differences, and invaribly some contradiction.
Really this actually, in my opinion, enhances the legitamacy of the bible as being what it states to be the record of the spiritual journey of people and cultures. If it were all the same I would tend to think it was likely written by one person at one time.
Remember religion traditional, especially Christianity holds that the bible is not a history or science textbook but a cultural book which is bound to have differnces. It is only in the last couple hundred years has it ever been seen to be literal (early Christians never thought of it that way). Also traditional it is only considered to be inerrant in the message when the message is properly interpretation in taking in all of the cultural, historical and literal context of the writings. The who, what, when where and why the specific writing was directed to.

The bible doesn't contradict itself. What you perceive as contradictions have been answered repeatedly. By studying the bible and learning where the seeming contradictions are many people have come to know the truth of the living God and they aren't unbelievers any longer, nor do they criticize the word of God any more.

They're afraid that the minute one contradiction is found, their whole religion falls apart.
I consider myself a Christian, though a more liberal one, and I find that it's best to put your faith in God and Christ and admit that you don't really know very much about the universe. The Gospels will give you a general idea of Jesus' life. The epistles will give you a general idea of what Jesus' apostles thought (though I doubt they knew that their mail was going to end up in the canon!). The OT will give you the history of the Jewish people, some of it allegory. But all and all, we know very little about God and, frankly, about the universe.
Jesus said to be selfless and, basically, to not be a jerk. You don't need an inerrant thousand-page text to follow those orders correctly. You just need, you know, to not be a jerk. Sometimes I think that's actually harder than following the Bible word for word.

Maybe contradictions exist, maybe they do to the human mind. Christians believe God created the Earth, last time I checked I do not know any human who could do that (safe to say God is a tad smarter then us?). If God wanted us to have all the answers then I think the world would be a very different place. If having faith was easy, then what would faith be? There is always opposition and always will be and we just need to have faith and trust in our God.

When you master ancient Hebrew and Koine Greek, and can work in original languages, and then translate your own version from the many thousands of manuscripts available. Then you can argue about word choice and contradictions.
Pick any supposed contradiction, do a word study in the original, and then argue with the text. The contradiction will become very clear-you are not as good with English as you may think.

Most Christians have never actually read the Bible from cover to cover. So, they may be unaware of the contradictions.

"Why do Christians deny contradictions"? Are you sure you don't want to go back and reword this? In any case, Christians always deny the contradictions and constant drivel of atheists and other God-haters. Myself, I try to deny at least three or four a day, time permitting.

Most contradictions occur in the mind. Do I understand all the bible absolutely not. In fact there are idioms which occur in the language which would really help in knowing the lnguage for starters. But I don't understand much about many subjects (Im not mechanically inclined) But this doesn't mean I am going to reject driving a car either. I have seen minor contradicitons in new testament versions of events. This doesn't make me cry prrof of fraud but rather proof that the authors didn't conspire to gt thier story straight. These minor differences don't amount to matters of contradcion of matters of faith. Rather sequence or detail. I am reminded of a story by the old atheist W.C. Fields. While lyig sick in bed his girlfriend came in and saw him reading a bible. astonished she asked what are you doing your an atheist. W.C. quickly answered looking for loopholes my dear. It seems allot of people look through the bible hoping to find some excuse to not believe. If yo look for excuses I'm sure you 'll find them but the deeper question is why do you want to find excuses not to believe? I suggest more oftenthan not it is to give yourself permission to live a selfish lifestyley that you know isn't right. This is why the put such effort in trying to debunk the Christian faith.

Here's a good start for the Christians to start answering:
The Bible is riddled with repetitions and contradictions, things that the Bible bangers would be quick to point out in anything that they want to criticize. For instance, Genesis 1 and 2 disagree about the order in which things are created, and how satisfied God is about the results of his labors. The flood story is really two interwoven stories that contradict each other on how many of each kind of animal are to be brought into the Ark--is it one pair each or seven pairs each of the "clean" ones? The Gospel of John disagrees with the other three Gospels on the activities of Jesus Christ (how long had he stayed in Jerusalem--a couple of days or a whole year?) and all four Gospels contradict each other on the details of Jesus Christ's last moments and resurrection. The Gospels of Matthew and Luke contradict each other on the genealogy of Jesus Christ' father; though both agree that Joseph was not his real father. Repetitions and contradictions are understandable for a hodgepodge collection of documents, but not for some carefully constructed treatise, reflecting a well-thought-out plan.

any day you care to actually learn something past hear say, I will be glad to walk you through each step, each contradiction you think is in it. I will easily explain each one using facts from history and languages. I will even give you $1000 if I am unable to do this.
but I along with everyone else knows you don't care for the truth, you just want to attempt to stir up hate speech. mature some is my advice to you, for you will not go far in this world the way you are acting.
