Yes I have been a victim of crime as some idiot lads threw fire crackers into my room, tho luckily they didnt go off and we never found those lads!
Tho my little sister has a been a victim a couple of times, which angers me so much because it was physical abuse and one I cant go into but the other time was when a group of lads started following her and giving her abuse then when she reached her bf, the group of lads beat him up so bad he had to go into hospital cos he got involved to save my sister from the lads. So he was unable to go back to work for a month. Were the group of lads convicted? Well a couple were and they had to pay a petty fee! No I don't feel that was justice at all!

Yes I was attacked by 2 men in Cape Town, South Africa and beaten up. When it was reported to the Police they just laughed and said that as I was not in hospital I was not badly hurt and the theft of my handbag, including my house keys was not considered serious. They gave me a Report number so that I could claim my loss and the cost of complete new locks etc. on the insurance and said there was no chance they would even look for the attackers.. Apart from considerable physical injuries at the time, I took a long time to get over the Post Traumatic Stress Disease and consider that I was lucky in only being assaulted, not knifed or shot as is many the case in South Africa. As far as I know the case is still "open".

I wasn't but my middle daughter and her husband were. Someone broke into their apartment and stole some stuff. It took a while for them to figure out that a book of their checks were stolen and someone had written over $500. in bad checks on their account. The bank gave them back the money and a new account and they called the police but nothing was ever done. My daughter still can't write checks at many places because it shows up that she has over $500. in bad checks out there.
The police came out and did a report and that was it. What amazed me the most was that most of the checks were for about $100. at Walmart and Walmart took the checks without asking for an I.D.

Twice in the last year!
1st time my car was stolen off my drive over night. It took the police three weeks to even visit us and that was only after we were able to give them a name of a suspect who had been bragging about stealing a four wheel drive from our village. The police said it was followed up, but they got no further with their enquiries. The car was found about 6 months later in a field full of trailers so it had been used to steal those trailers. Our insurance had already paid out by then.
The second time i was run off the road by someone overtaking on a blind bend. I reported it to the police who asked me to make a statement as I had the registration number of the other vehicle. They looked into it but said they did not have any evidence of the event happening.
Don't get me wrong I think the police do a marvellous job, but are so understaffed that only the most major of crimes get any time spent on them.

Yes.
Someone broke into my car and left trace evidence of the implement they used to do it but not enough evidence to prove who did it.
A few weeks later I saw a known car criminal in a DIY shop appearing to buy tools for use in breaking into cars. The tools he was buying matched the ones I'd identified from the trace evidence left in my car.
I later saw him going past my house several times.
A few months after that I interviewed the same known car criminal for a different offence and was pretty certain he was responsible for breaking into my car but couldn't prove it.
How frustrating is that?!?!?!
As for the sentencing, it never fits the crime and the victim always suffers. It's a sad fact in this Country.

This is the best option for a reverse phone number lookup https://tr.im/721a7
Receiving a one or two hang up calls each month is probably nothing to worry about, but when those calls increase in frequency and if it happens in the middle of the night then you must do something to stop it, before it starts affecting your life. With the help of this services you can take away the one advantage these people have - their anonymity.

A guy broke into my car. He paid restitution, did a month or two in county jail. I guess I'm okay with it. It felt like a personal violatino when it happened, but ultimately almost no harm was done... I had to change bank account numbers, and I got some cash for the nick-nacks taken.

yes. the first time was some years ago. i had some jewelry stolen, but i got it back, the person made amends, and i was able to accept that and move on.
but a few years ago my house was broken into and vandalized. every room had been ransacked. i was pretty sure who had done it, and so were my neighbors when they heard about it, but there was no proof and the person got away with it. i will never forget how violated i felt when I came home and found the senseless mess.

A few months ago someone broke into my house and stole my laptop computer.
No-one was ever arrested that I know of.
My theory is that it was probably one of the construction workers we had recently hired to do some renovations and who were in and out and around the house for a few weeks pretty much every day. (The break-in happened about a week after they finished)

Yes, I was a victim of an assault, and no, I do not feel the punishment fit the crime. The a**hole was charged with felony third degree assault and battery, and got off with one years probation. The kicker is that he had a record as long as my arm.
