Hawaii hands down!

Hawaii. I spent one night in LA and was counting the hours til our trip continued to San Diego. I couldn't stand LA. Smoggy, dirty, nasty. Hollywood looks better on TV. Besides seeing TV shows, I could cover everything worth seeing in an hour. Plus as you must be rather young, it's terribly violent. I mean it's no New Orleans but it's not much better.

Hawaii should definitely be your pick. Gorgeous. Amazing scenery. Beaches, rainforest, snow covered mountains. Safe. So much to see and do. A tropical paradise. surfers. All your friends will be jealous. Most people spend forever trying to get to Hawaii. It's 50th wedding anniversary quality, honeymoon, the big vacation you save several years for. No one ever sits there thinking "After 50 yrs of marriage I want to go to Los Angeles." If you have the choice, Hawaii should win hands down.

This is an easy one.

I suggest that you go to Hawaii instead of LA. I had been to LA 3-4x and I really really hate the traffic over there especially during the spring breaks! it is a place which is very polluted, very noisy and my head aches when I pass by this place.
Being in Hawaii is like being in paradise and that you will really feel relaxed on its ambiance.
Let us start with a few details about Hawaii.
Its capital is Honolulu! Other cities includes Hilo and Kailua. It is also known as the "Aloha State." People here are more warm and hospitable than in LA wherein everybody is in a hurry! They welcome their guest with a "lei." "Aloha" means hello or goodbye!

The island has 8 major islands and 128 islets( small islands). What are these 8 lovely islands?
1. Hawaii= largest island and it is called the Big Island. Kilauea is its most active volcano.
2. Maui
3. Kahoolawe
4. Lanai
5. Molokai
6. Oahu ( 3/4 of the population of Hawaii lives here)
Honolulu = is the capital of Hawaii located in this island and its largest city. It is a dry place. Waikiki Beach, is one of the most popular attractions in Hawaii.

7. Kauai= wettest place on earth, gets more rain than any other island in Hawaii. It is known as the " Garden Island." The rain gives this place greenery!
Mount Waialeale gets around 4.51 inches of rain each year.

8. Niihau

Hawaii is known for its sugar and pineapple plantations! Workers are mostly from East Asian countries.

What to do?
1. Learn about water sports!
2. Explore the coral reefs by snorkeling or diving.
3. SURFING = Oahu's north shore has the best surfing waves in the world.
4. See how they dance the hula and learn it too!
5. Dont forget to try Hawaii's famous products such as macademia nuts and coffee!

10 popular attractions in Honolulu as suggested by Yahoo travel:
Honolulu is the gateway to the other Hawaiian islands.
1. Pearl Harbor
This is an important part of American
history.

2. Hanauma Bay Marine Preserve
This is well known for its horse-
shoe shaped sandy beach!

3. Diamond Head State Monument
There is a story behind this! The
Western explorers mistook it when
calcite crystals where found on the
crater of an extinct volcano and mistook
it for diamonds!

4. National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl
This is the final resting of 34,000
veterans who died in Worlds War I & II,
both the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

5. Waikiki Beach
This is definitely world famous!

6. Arizona Memorial
The history of USS Arizona in 1941 is
almost like Titanic! There were 1,100
sailors who died in this battleship.

7. Saint Augustine Church
What makes this church a place to
go? Wow, you should see this 1854
church! This is a beautiful place for
weddings and located in beautiful Waikiki!
The history of this church is really
interesting! From 1831-1839, believers
express their Catholic rights were heavily
dealt with and given high taxes!

8. Iolani Palace
Did you know that this was once the only royal palace in the USA? It houses a museum.

9. Waikiki Aquarium
Location: 2777 Kalakaua Avenue
Honolulu, Hawaii
Open: Mondays-Sundays=9am-5pm
This is located just a few short blocks from Waikiki beach! This is one great place to learn about Hawaii's amazing ocean. For your information, this is the 3rd oldest aquarium in the USA which was built in 1904. It is part of the University of Hawaii.

10. Nuuanu Pali Lookout
Did you know that this is the windiest
part of Oahu? You have to take the
Pali Highway in going to this area!

I suggest that you explore Hawaii first in the internet before presenting your vacation plan to your parents complete with slideshows from yahoo travel.
I usually study a place before going there and having a map and reading about popular attractions so that I will make the most out of my trip and money. Make sure that you make your schedule to whether you are in a package tour or not!

Hawaii.
I live in LA, and seriously, it isn't that exciting. Everyone seems to think its great... but it's pretty normal. Parts are nice, but other parts are pretty dirty.
Go to Hawaii... beautiful beaches, a lot to do...
I wish I could go!

Obviously Hawaii. Oahu is kind of touristy, but the other islands are magnificent.
PS: If you go to a Luau, don't taste the Poi, it's terrible.
