It means when Party A knows Party B and makes accusations about Party B's personal life/professional life that could potentially cause permanent problems in Party B's life.

Party B can then sue Party A for Slander.

A good example of this would be if the Monica Lewinsky/Clinton case were actually not true and Monica had claimed that Bill was a sex addict who beat his wife. This accusation, made public, would cause serious problems for Clinton and he therefore could have sued her for Slander (if this were the case, which it wasn't).

Uh, basically - bad words about someone. Libel is when bad things (about someone) are written; slander is when it's spoken. Bob and Tom have a great libel/slander piece somewhere on their site . . .

Slander is a malicious act of oral defamation intended to harm a person's reputation and causes provable monetary damages, that's why people sue.

It means someone told a lie about you and slandered your good name, or besmirched it. Basically, giving you a bad reputation.

Slander and libel are basically the same thing. Slander is in print, and libel is by voice. I might have that backwards, but you see thee point.

one. porque means why and you're asking for a definition
two. slander means to wrongly accuse
for example you're accusing someone for stealing something, and so he's suing you for slandering (lying and giving a bad reputation to his name)
