I dont know if what I'm feeling is temporary or not. I think i may be depressed also. I have two brothers and a sister. Both of my brothers are married to their childhood sweethearts. My sister is a lesbian and have a nice girlfriend. It just feels like everybody have somebody except for me. I wonder how can I feel better about this. I'm not desperate, I just wonder if I'll ever find someone to love andhe love me.

I guess that makes you the Mary Tyler Moore of our generation.

Sounds like youre going through a depression related to feeling like your life is never going to be where you want it.
The more you put yourself out there (in society) the more men you will meet. Join some organizations that men might be involved in. Like bicycling, hiking, things like that.

Well, I know what you are feeling. I am about your same age and get the same feeling quite often. ALL of my friends are married and have children, etc.

The thing is, we have to do our best to enjoy our lives and our current freedom. You have no idea how much life changes and gets more complicated when you are married. Not that it is a bad thing per se, but it is a real adjustment! I know because I was actually married for a little while. Thank heavens in this situation that I didn't have any children though. So, here I am, back where I started, but for the most part enjoying it.

Yes, there are the lonely days. The days when it would just be great to have a man around. But we just have to get through those days. It is like others have said, there is someone out there for us, but it isn't time yet.

From my own experience, I can truly say that the worst thing you can do it chase it. You just have to come to a point where you are happy with yourself, because as the saying goes, "if you aren't happy with yourself, you can't be happy with anyone else".

Yes, put yourself out there. Attend social activities, take a class, whatever you like to do, but don't chase men. It doesn't pay. Be social and friendly and fun, but don't chase.

Well, that is about it. I wish you the best of luck. Don't give up. It'll happen.

It could be part of your age, your "biological clock" is ticking so in the back of your mind you realize that time is running out for you to have children. Also, when everyone around you is in a good relationship, it makes you more aware of the fact that you are alone. I am sure you will find someone, or they will find you, eventually, just keep your chin and your attitude up and it will happen. If you belong to a church, check and see if they have singles dances or other singles get togethers you can attend.

I have a similar situation. I'm 43 and never been married. Both of my brothers who are younger than me, are both married with children. I understand what you're feeling, but I try not let it bother me. Sometimes it's hard like around the holidays and summertime/vacations, etc. I'm still searching and I won't give up! There HAS to be someone out there for me.

hun, this is normal. Im 16 and I got this feeling when all my friends had bfs....
Well you just got to point out the good things in life. I promised myself that I would never go looking for a relationship because it would just be a waste of my time.
(my {old} slogan:SINGLE AND PROUD!)
Well I kept my promise....but the relationship found me...

You will find some one, dont rush it (thats VERY good that your not desprate)

This feeling will pass, dont feel that just because everyone else has something means that you have to have it too!
:)

Wow, that's hot about your sister being a lesbian. First you should pray about it. Keep your eyes open, God will answer your prayers at the right time in your life. Don't be so depressed, your happiness is well on it's way, you've just got to believe in it.

yes - if you find the right guy you can really have a great time with things . when the kids are gone you will still see them- however nows the time to have a great relationship with that someone special in your life. think on going back to a simpler easier time when things were easy and fun and you could really enjoy them without all the hassles. go do what you want when you want -things are really spontanious that way too!.

yeah, it sounds like you are having a low point right now. But, if you are seeking the one, what are you doing to put yourself out there? Are you dating actively?

If all else fails, you can try internet dating. I know someone that found someone that he is completely head over heels about. They are getting married in June.

Good luck.

First you have to get out there where the guys are or sign-up on a couple of those dating websites (like match.com, cupid.com, etc.) and fill out their profile information sheets and the guys will find you. Then you can pick the guy or guys you want to meet without wasting your time hanging out at a bar or sports place.
