The only way to get her to be calm when she is inside is to get her LOTS of exercise outside. When I woke up this morning my pit bull was Ready To Go! She was hyper, and playful, she wouldn't sit down. We took an hour walk, then played with the ball for a while. Now she is sleeping on the couch with the cats. We are going to have to take another walk later this evening too. Pit Bulls are Very high energy. The only way to get them to calm down while in the house is to give them lots of exercise outside. And to keep her from getting into everything, get her her own chew toys. Then teach her that her toys are the only things she is allowed to put in her mouth. When she gets into something, tell her "No!" and replace it with her toy. When she chooses the toy praise her. When she chooses her toy on her own, also praise her. Do this until she is sure that her toys are the only thing allowed in her mouth. The perfect toy for my pit bull is the kong. We can throw it around like a ball, she uses it as a chew toy, and you can fill it with treats or peanut butter if you need to keep her occupied, like while she is in her crate. I hope this helps!

A tired dog is a dog that does not chew, bark, act crazy or run around like a child on a sugar buzz. First off, puppies are "puppies" until they reach the age of 3. Sooo, it sounds to me like you need to do that 45 minute walk every day, and play excessive activities to tire that little bugger out. A treadmill is a very good idea!! Pits love treadmills, and is also beneficial to the Pits owner. Also, sounds like she needs more attention from you. Play with her more, let her sit on your lap, have time just for HER!! She'll settle down eventually.

best idea-VIGOROUS playtime for fido and an attentive puppy parent who enforces the rules. A long walk won't be enough for some high strung dogs-you must provide some vigorous activity, as this will trigger a rest period for the dog instinctively. Also, your dog may be challenging you as the head of the 'pack' by acting out. Nip this in the bud by firmly yet kindly establishing that YOU are the boss. Best of luck!

It's obvious from what you posted that you know the right answer but don't want to do it. Most dogs need a lot of exercise and you can't do anything to make them not need that. It's like trying to make them not need food or water.
