Or drives people towards liberalism by being so offensive?

(People tend to want to be moderates so moving the end of the spectrum of extremism tends to make people shift there opinions towards the more extreme position.Sometimes.)

I was actually thinking more of the political idea of opinion shifting, but still, fairly good answers.

I really don't know. I'm an Independent, Fundamental Baptist and we don't have any thing in common with those nuts. I think if the "pastor" of that church really examined his heart, he would know that God would never want him to protest at anyone's funeral or spew the hate he does. Is it the pastor's job to tell his congregation what sin is and how it kills our souls? Yes, but this guy is a nut, he doesn't follow the Baptist doctrine at all from what I hear of him. He gives us Baptists a bad rep and the only reason he hasn't been shut down is his church IS independent. I'm sorry to say this ,but I think the guy is a representing Satan by his actions.

The Westboro B.C. doesn't deserve to be called Baptist or a church.

Personally, I think they just find people with that kind of hatred in their heart already, then tell them what they want to hear. It's not just liberal preaching that tickles the ears!

They're certainly not drawing anyone towards their position. They're an embarrassment to all Christians everywhere.

I think they're offensive to everyone and there are less than 100 members, most of whom belong to the Phelps family.
