NASA says that sea levels are rising do to global warming. I live 180 ft below sea level, so does that mean that that number will be higher soon? And if so who changes the number? NPS? NASA? EPA? Who?

I saw some oceanographers and earth science people on the news channels after Gore's diatribe. He says 20 feet in 32 years; they say 1 foot in a few centuries. Don't worry about it. Right now the seas are rising about and inch every century.

Each country officially detrmines the definition of mean sea level for purposes of mapmaking and geography. However, most countries cooperate in order to make measurements universal. In the USA, the World Geodetic System is used. In the UK, Permanent Service for Mean Sea Level is used.

If mean sea level is officially redefined for the US, it may well be that your town will be further below sea level than it is now.

Done.
