I don't think it is the age that matters. I believe it is maturity level and the ability to provide, (which generally comes with age). It also very much helps to have a good support system, whether it be your partner, good friends, loving parents, etc. I am 19 and have a beautiful 3 month old son, and my family (myself, my son, and my fiance) are doing just fine. I also know people my age with children that have absolutely no idea what they are doing, and pawn their kids off on their parents so they can go out and get drunk and do drugs. Having a child forces you to give up a lot of your "non-child" life, and the readiness to do so is ultimiately what I believe determines whether you are mature enough to have a child.

People are going to throw all types of ages at you on this one. But from my experience and findings, you are never ready for a child. You could be 18 to 99 and you will never be ready. You learn to be ready and adapt to the situation when it actually happens. I myself was 17 when I was pregnant and when my child was born I turned 18 a few months later. I have seen people in their 30's and 40's not have the slightest clue on parenting and babies. I have heard people say that they thought that they were ready but really weren't. It's all about learning... you never know what you're ready for until you do it. How did you know that you were ready to ride a bike until you actually go on and rode it? Get my drift?!

Well, I think you should be out of high school and at least 18. As far as how old?? The risk of birth defects goes up dramatically after 40. Also, you have to remember if you have a child at 45 or 50 your looking at being in your 60's when he/she graduates form high school.

A girl should be at least 18 or married before having a child.
I was 25 when I had my first.

I would stay anywhere around 18-23 if your on your feet, don't have a kid if you don't work have a good place to live or you have no family to help you, well you don't need family but its better get on your feet before having a baby
