although I can relate to your issue, the problem isn't with the hospitals, it's with the laws! And people of course that sued hospitals, nurses, doctors, cause they told somebody something that the patient didn't want anyone to know. It's called HIPPA
laws, we don't make em, we just follow them. So, don't get mad at the hospital, we hate it ourselves. The other issue, sometimes patients tell hospitals that they want to be a DNA or do not announce. That means that even if President Bush called and asked if The governator was at my hospital, I'd be required to lie. Cause DNA means DNA to anybody. If you can make friends with a specific staff (nurse mostly) introduce yourself, in thepatients room, and the patient says i'ts OK for them to give you updates, that might work. but, only for that nurse. I know it's frustrating, but, hey, thank the lawyers.
Earlier when nurses could use common sense, it went much smoother, and we were glad to give updates with the patients permission Earlier when nurses could use common sense and use families to interpret when OK with the patient, things went smoother. Earlier, before POLITICALLY correct, and RIGHTS of every thing abnormal came into play, the world was alot friendlier and not as sue happy.place. Sorry for your inconvenience. I know it's a pain We tell people if they want to know, they have to """"COME ON DOWN"""""""""""!!!! jk
