Is there a red ring showing? If there's a ring, there's nothing you can do but go to a doctor, there's no home meds against Lyme disease.

To prevent lyme, check yourself for ticks whenever you come home, and when you see a tick remove it immediately but carefully with special tweezers (those are *very* cheap, only a buck or so, but there's a lot less chance the head will remain behind). Don't use alcohol or anything to poison the tick, just grab it really close to the skin using the tweezers and pull it out. If you use alcohol, the tick will 'throw up' and insert more of its fluids into your body, increasing the odds of you catching lyme disease. Also the longer it's there, the greater the chance you will be infected. If you remove a tick within a couple hours the chances are very very low you'll get it but if it's there for a day or more then chances are much greater. So check frequently and look carefully because a tick that's just attached itself can be very small!

This all of course for future ticks, apart from the cheapo tweezers it doesn't cost anything but time, for this one I'd really advise you to see a doctor after all. Lyme isn't too hard to get rid of in the very early stages but takes loads more meds (= more expense!) and can leave lingering or even chronic symptoms when left untreated for long.

Several tick diseases. Ehricilosis (sp?) Rocky Mt spotted fever, Lymes, and another one I can't think of. You need to go to dr and get Rx for doxycycline. It doesn't matter which tick disease you may or may not have, so if no insurance, I wouldn't agree to the tests, doxycycline gold standard for tick bites. YOU NEED TO GO TO DRs before it turns serious. Itching is the least of your concerns. Also need a tetanus shot!!

You may not see anything, but part of its jaw may be in there causing the itch and it WILL get infected. I am not saying this from a dogs point of view, I am saying this from experience. I grew up in the country and I was always getting ticks deer hunting

get some bactine.you can spray it on and its amazing! you need neosporin to make sure it doesnt get infected. and last take a benedryl to stop the itch. good luck.

ps if it doesnt get better in 6-10 days suck it up and go to the doc. it would be extra lame to die of an infected tick bite.

duh its infected. there might b tiny mouthparts that r embedded, or it might b some bacteria that the tick was carrying. try putting antibiotic ointment on it. if u have a brave n strong stomached friend, see if they will probe at it a little. since its on ur back im sure u cant see it all that well, n there is something in there irritating it. also try drying it out. ut calomine lotion on it, like the stuff u use when u had chicken pox. check websites for the diseases n symptoms of tick borne illnesses.

Does it have a bullseye around the bite?

Then you need to see a doctor, to prevent infection, and getting lyme disease.
