I've only stayed with one man who did not fully respect me...my ex husband of 20 years. It is not easy to walk away after taking vows. You become complacent and have hopes that someday it will get better. It takes much courage and soul searching to give up on a promise. You come to realize that your life is worth more to you than living a lie or in hell.
I think some women go back to these situations because they don't want to be alone, they haven't figured out they deserve better or they get a sense of comfort knowing that at least they are with someone. Personally, I'd rather be alone and happy, than be miserable and with someone. :)

Most girls are afraid to be alone. and stay with the guy maybe because they feel that is the best that they can do. Maybe they have low self esteem and feel as though no one else will give them the time of day. and that this is the only guy who will. Or she could be afraid of the guy and not know how to get out, or hes done or said something that has scared her to think that if she does leave him that he may come after her family or something, or said things to her like shell never find anyone better, and that kind of stuff. it could be any number of reasons...

Well...the girl may think that they need them and they love them!! Now I've been with the same guy for 2 years....ya he hurt me a few times but I know he loves me! There is no such thing as the perfect guy! There isn't any.....So sometimes you take what you can get! I know it sounds horrible but its true....Before I met my bf I was with one guy who cheated on me with my sister! ( I didn't get back together with him) and another guy who only wanted to see me when he wanted to....he never took me out or anything! They were both "bad boys" for some reason me along with just about every other girl falls for those type of men! I can't explain it but that's just the way it is!

I don't believe it's because girls are afraid to be alone. Hey, news flash, not all girls are as fragile as their stereotypes.
Personally, I believe MOST, or maybe some, girls stay in an abusive relationship purely because they like attention. Other girls stick around because they honestly and truly like the person. Let's face it, love isn't very scientific or logical at all. When you're infatuated with someone, there isn't always going to be an explanation.

Because, for some strange reason girls think that they can change a guy into - what - I don't know. You remember when the girl next door found that pit-bull puppy all mangled and bloody, hobbling on three legs? She took it in, nursed it back to health and sicked it on you when you didn't ask her out to Prom! Well, we're sorta like the pit-bull they want to believe that they can change us by 'Doing' certain things to control us unfortunately it ends up hurting both parties in the end. -Peace!

because those girls dont repect themselves... basically why would you let someone disrespect you... if a guy dis' ed you you would slap him, I'd basically ignore her, or call her a names, cause hey girls are dumb and verbal abuse is my favor kind, plus Im good at it... back to your answer... why do they continue to put up with filth in a relationship, low self esteem, or they are fuc king stupid and think he will change, Im not gonna lie, there are things in my life-style I wish I could change, but I just cant, some things I can, how I act around girls I usually cant, nice guys finish last and Im too nice to have a girl currently, lol

It's either for:
1) Money / security
2) Fear of loneliness
3) They don't know what being respected is, so they don't know.
4) All their friends want him and thus don't want to lose him.
5) For the same reason men stay with women who don't respect them. The sex is still good.

Girls like to mold men into their perfect match. They take the cute and almost perfect man they're in love with and try to make him change into something they're not. And try to smooth out those imferfections by hopelessly praying that if they would only _____, or if only he would _____, he would be perfect. Some girls also like to be treated badly. Maybe that's all they're used to and dating their norm is more comfortable for them even if it means dealing with some form of disrespect. What's wrong with these women?

My experience has been that there is no man who fully respects any woman. Call it realistic maybe. Even your question insinuates women aren't smart enough to give up a guy who mistreats them...so you don't fully respect them either.

Maybe they have low self esteem and they feel as though hey can't do any better.
Or they just stay with them because of the history and they don't want to start over.
Or They really feel that the apolgy that they got was sincere.
