i am going to make rock cakes with friends ,three little boys , so they can all join in and cook.

ROCK CAKES
Ingredients:
1 c. self-rising flour
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. raisins
1 egg
Directions:
Sift flour and nutmeg. Rub butter into flour. Add sugar. Add raisins. Add eggs. Mix well.
Form into spoon-sized balls on greased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Makes 17-18 cakes.

It is so good to hear that there really is such a thing as a rock cake. In the Harry Potter books, Hagrid makes rock cakes, with the emphasis on "rock." Harry and his pals are afraid to eat these cakes, for fear of breaking a tooth!

I just use 8ozs margarine 8 ozs sager beat together add sultanas ,1 lb flour milk to give a moist texture put oven on gas mark 6 place blobs of mixture on a well greased and floured baking tray don't put them too close together they will spread or you can use bun tins have fun its nice to see people taking time to cook with children
