I think a lot of food intolerances are personal. Its up to you to work it out in your daily routine. For example for me it would be chilli, onion and anything yeasty like pizza but it may be different for you.

It really depends what symptoms you get, you could talk to a dietician. Basically if you get wind - try and avoid wind producing food ie baked beans, if you get constipation avoid foods that can cause this and eat foods that can improve it ie prunes, fibre etc. If you get diarrhoea than the opposite would be true. If you get cramps try peppermint oil - just don't eat or drink 1/2 hour either side of taking the capsules - you'll get heart burn!
I'm afraid it's just trial and error, and it can all change when it wants to!

Everyone is different so your intolerances might not be the same as mine but I don't react well to dairy products. A friend with IBS can't eat wheat and avoids bread. I suppose the answer is eat something and if it makes you feel terrible and bloated and gives you pains, avoid it! I still eat lots of dairy foods as I love cheese so I just put up with the symptoms but generally I like a good fresh healthy diet anyway.

Everyone with ibs can be different. Spicy food may affect one person but not another. try to have a healthy balanced diet. Drink plenty of water, try to stay clear of fizy drinks like coke or pepsi. a takeaway wont do you any harm on special occasions, but if you eat them often then be prepared for your ibs to play up. Also its better to eat little and often, dont go all day without eating anything and then eat a big meal, that will casue your ibs to flare up.
I would suggest you keep a diary of everything you eat, then you know what agrees with you and what doesnt. there is also a food intolhorence test you can have, that will tell you what foods your body is intolhorent to, so you know what to stay clear of.

If I were you, I would chart your eating habits for 10 days and note when your IBS symptoms flair up or get worse then usual. By doing this you will see what kind of foods effect you the most. This helped me a lot. I also supplement with the Gastro Bundle from Jigsaw Health. It has done a lot..... A LOT of good for me! GL 2 U

IBS
People with IBS need to be careful observers of the effects of certain foods. They may wish to avoid or limit certain foods based on their experiences, such as:
Gas-producing foods, such as beans, cabbage, broccoli, or onions, especially for those with abdominal distention and flatulence
Foods high in fructose. Fruit and many products that use it as a sweetener should only be used in small quantities
Products that contain sorbital (an artificial sweetener used in dietetic foods, some drugs, and chewing gum) should only be used in small quantities
Caffienated products
Carbonated drinks
Dairy products, including milk, ice cream, and soft cheeses especially for those who have lactose intolerance

50% of people with IBS get better on high fibre diets, If this includes you that is you answer, but 50 % get worse! The group that get worse do get less symptoms on low fibre diets. Unfortunately these are unhealthy.
IBS does not damage the bowel and therefore there are no absolute dietary rules. Generally if it hurts don't eat it would be my advice.

I have some advice about what to try. I use Equalactin and have found the symptoms relieved. They are sort of chalky but I take 2 wafers 3 times a day and I eat what I want to. (with the exception of ice cream...BIG mistake)

It would probably help you to have a test and find out what your intolerances are. Wheat is quite common. My sister-in-law recommends drinking a few drops of peppermint oil in a lot of water - or find a peppermint squash. Apparently that can relieve symptoms.

sweetcorn, mushrooms, beans, peas, pulses, white bread, fatty food, veg with skins on, eg potatoes. eat lots of fibre, brown rice, wholemeal bread, ibs disables the capability to digest most of the foods listed above, also jam with pips, nuts, and according to my gp not too much red meat. hope this helps
