They definately do. They also carry rabies, so make sure you get your cat tested, even if he/she is current on vaccinations. Remember that is a fatal disease.

Yes they can. I had a cat that would step aside and let a raccoon eat the food and the cat would do the same thing with a oposem

Yes they will attack..If your cat { or dog } should corner on e they will attack and they can infflick alot of damage. Raccoons are the same way only worse.

Possible...If they had babies and thought the cat was a threat to them...a parent might attack...I believe this is the time of year many animals give birth

Yes, a possum might well attack a domestic cat that gets too close - possums are wild animals and have cause to fear domestic pets. You'd do well to take your cat to the vet - the possum could have had rabies.

Opossums are docile creatures, and do NOT resort to aggression. It's highly unlikely that your cat was attacked by one.
More likely that he/she was attacked by another cat, or maybe a young raccoon.

opposums can attack but so cant skunks, raccoons, and many other cats...without seeing what did it you cant really tell...
