may it work for him ??? it may , however the chances of him not receiving what he wants so much may get ruined by several factors such as not getting married for love and they finding out or they ( the immigration officer ) not believing he did marry for love . so if he is not in love i would not recommend him or to anyone to do it , as some of the others answerers point out they may found out and then he may get banned for up to ten years . there is so many other factors which may turn things badly too , such as a crime in his record and getting married will not solve that part . sometimes they even let the people in that type of cases live in the USA for several years but at end they do not give them the chance to stay even if they already have a family with kids which are citizens . so one has to be very careful in this kind of things ....
i would recommend him to go see an immigration lawyer which may be able to give him an answer which is more according to his particular case situation ...
i forgot as u may know or maybe not ;) , the USA congress is about to make changes regarding the status of million of immigrants which live and work in the USA and are an asset to this nation so he may have another option there depending in how the new rules affect the situation of this 11 to 14 millions of people who will very likely be legalized pretty soon ....

If your friend came into the country illegally, depending on when he came in illegally, he might not be able to adjust his status. The best thing to do is to contact an Immigration Lawyer and have your friend give him a free consultation. Several years ago a new Immigration Law passed stating that if illegal aliens are not married by a certain date that they will be deported for two years. If they are found to re-enter the country illegally they will be banned by immigration for 10 years. Regardless of there spouses sponsorship. If your friend is getting married just because he want his status adjusted, and immigration finds out, both parties will go to jail. If he is getting married because of love, and prove that his deportation can cause serious hardship to his US family it can be avoided. But it is a really long process. The best to do is go to contact an immigration attorney and go to the immigration website, www.uscis.gov and try to read on some of the laws, it will be helpful.

Coming into country illegally is first harm committed by your friend. Thinking of marrying is another crime. On these two grounds, he can be kept in jail and he cannot never go back to his country legally. If illegal works, go illegally.

Nothing will happen in India. No one will find out. He can get a Ration Card and a Birth Certificate by paying few hundreds in a remote village - this kinda news I came across in the news. Once he gets these two certificates, he becomes an Indian and he can find a bride from a Marriage Web-Portal. He can even conduct his wedding in a Rajasthan Palace - like we saw recently - arun nayar wedding. Cheers.

I also have a son too with mine. my technique for figuring out to purchase my husbands papers is going nicely. in all risk cuz I even have an attorny. and she or he's conscious alot of stuff cuz she bargains with immigration each and all of the time. i could attempt to hire an attorny or ask in case you may set up an appointment to easily ask questions. it makes it lots eaiser cuz if u have questions they'd have the skill to help out. u no what tho.... iv heard with the recent presedent, each and every thing is gonna be lots extra advantageous. we could desire so. stable success hun

Forget about what happens to him.
First cut off his friendship.
Do you wish to cool your feet in a prison for giving shelter to an illegal entrant?

sure it will.. but if he stays illegally here till democrats gets elected, he can immediately become a citizen. other wise he will have to wait for a green card, and then for a citizenship.. not to mention, the money your friend will save on taxes.. not legal = no taxes :)
