I would think that with the two of you being out there all day long, he's gonna need to go potty eventually. Take some grocery bags or small trash bags (they're cheaper than buying doodie bags) to pick up any "gifts" he may leave lying around where someone may step in it. Just put the bag over your hand like a glove and grab it, then pull the bag inside out around it as you pick it up. I know it sounds gross, but you're not actually touching it. I have a rather large dog that I've have to pick up out of several people's yards before. And it's really weird the first few times, but you start to get the hang of it, lol. Also, even though your hand doesn't actually touch it, take some hand sanitizer. It makes you feel a little better just knowing you're still killing any germs that may be on your hands. Whenever me and Ches (my doggie) have an all day outing in the sun, I just take a big bottle of water for him and a cardboard cup cut off to about 3 or 4 inches deep and big enough around that he can still put his snout in a little bit to drink. Or you could take a cool whip bowl for him to drink from. Also, a water spritzer to mist him with now and again. After all, he is wearing a fur coat out in the hot sun!

Oh oh oh, please NOT a choke chain, they're cruel. I didn't know anyone used them nowadays. Have you come across a contraption called a training halter - it works like magic and your dog will NOT pull. It doesn't hurt the dog at all - it has two "sleeves" that fit under the dog's front legs. Ask at your pet shop, please, it's much better than risking crushing your dog's windpipe.

By the way I have no idea what a doggie fest is but it sounds excruciating. The link you gave doesn't work, or not on my PC anyway.

I put the water in plastic bottles 3/4 of the way full before freezing!

Why do you keep asking this question, you have asked at least 4 times now this exact same question.
