I am concerned about the safety of installing laminate floors on stairs. Are they slippery? Also, I am concerned about the lip on the end of the step that is used when installing laminate flooring on stairs. Any input?

I have installed laminate on stairs several times. In isn't any more slippery than a wood floor. The stair moldings are a bit of a concern. Don't try to use a 4in1 Pergo reducer as a stair molding. If you use an actual Pergo stair molding, the molding will not stick out farther than the riser and will stick up
only 1/8" on the step. There is no way to put a carpet runner over laminate without ruining it. So if you can't tolerate the little transition strip on each step, you need something other than laminate.
I have had customers who loved laminate on stairs, and one who hated it. I personally am not too fond of it because all those stair moldings look too busy, chaotic. On the up side, if one of the boards gets damaged, it will be easy to replace.

Laminate and wood floors are a little bit slippery. Its a little scary if you have young children. You can install them along with a pretty runner going up the stairs. A runner really completes the look anyway.

You probably want to install the laminate but then put a carpet runner over that for traction so that you get the cohesive look of the laminate but still have the traction. My in laws removed their carpet from their solid hardwood stairs and refinished them and I have just about fallen many times. If you didn't install the runner but scuffed or riughed up the finish a little bit then you would get some more traction but it would look a little more beat up.

That would be might difficult to install laminate on steps. A rug runner would be a lot better choice.

I wouldn't put laminate floors on anything. They look phoney and have a plastic sound when you walk on them or drop something on them. Wood is so much nicer looking and the cost isn't a whole lot different.

I wouldn't. I know my kitchen floor can get slippery with socks on. I would stick to carpet.
