Not treating strep throat does NOT cause scarlett fever, it causes rheumatic fever. How long have you had symptoms for?? You could have either strep or mono. You have to have symptoms usually for about 10 days before monospot test can be done as it takes about that much time before mono can be detected in blood. Strep test is a simple swabbing of the tonsils and can be done at any time.

Oh my god...yes of course you have strep. I said oh my god..because I felt the same exact way this weekend. My doctor put me on antibiotics and by 24 hours, my symptoms got better. See a doctor, but until then, take tylenol every 4 hours and buy some throat lozenges. It'll take most of the pain away. I'm glad i'm not the only one feeling so crappy. it scared me at first. I thought I had some sort of life threatening disease, or even the flu.

Stay away from everyone else, it is extremely contagious.

Get Hydrogen Peroxide and mouthwash and brush your teeth 3 or 4 times a day with it. It will help heal the serious symptoms in your throat.

Eat live culture yogurt and take acidophiles tablets to try to fight the bad bacteria in your system.

Take aspirin every 4 hours to help with the pain. Wash your hands often. IT IS VERY CONTAGIOUS.

GO TO THE DOCTOR. Untreated strep can turn into scarlet fever and other complications of strep bacteria overgrowth. (The white spots are often a sign of strep, too.)
