egg. Dinosaurs hatched from eggs. Dinosaurs existed long before the chicken. Therefore, eggs existed before chickens did.

If you believe in Creationism, then the chicken. But with regards to evolution, the first chicken would have been from an egg 'dropped' by some sort of chicken progenitor and was genetically mutated to become what we commonly refer to as the chicken. Since Darwinism, evolution and natural selection, is proven to exist, I would have to say the egg. I generally credit God with the Big Bang Theory and then evolution took over.

It was the egg.
Put simply, the reason is down to the fact that genetic material does not change during an animal's life.
Therefore the first bird that evolved into what we would call a chicken, probably in prehistoric times, must have first existed as an embryo inside an egg.

The chicken, because an egg has to be kept warm . So therefore the chicken came first so it could lay the egg and keep it warm so it could hatch.

in nature, mutations occur. genetic defects. its more probable that the first chicken was the product of a genetically mutated egg, produced by two other birds. this genetic "f*** up" would then have led to the creation of a whole new species altogether, your kentucky fried chicken.
