If you are in the UK and have low income the RSPCA and PDSA runs cheap clinics, and you can get a free neutering voucher from your local vet surgery (yellow leaflet). Send it off to the authority and you will receive a list of vets that will neuter your cat for free. (funded by Cat Care and control Consortium)
If you're in the US contact your local shelter or humane association as many run free neutering clinics, or reduced costs ones.

And good idea for neutering your Alfie, he and you will both be happier.

Contact your local Blue cross, Cats protection league or RSPCA they can advise you on reasonably priced vets in your area, also sometimes they can give you vouchers to help with the cost. Usually after being neutered male cats calm down and arent as aggressive..of course this could just be his nature. Finally give Alfie plenty of chew toys 4 his teeth and you can buy special chew treats that help to clean his teeth. If his breath is still very pongy get some cat toothpaste from your vet and using a babies toothbrush brush away. He might not like this so wrap him in a towel gently first and try and have someone else there to stroke him whilst you brush.

LOL! My cat Smokey had the biggest man parts ever! I would just call around and check prices. the operation is simple and he can probably come home the next day. It didn't change a thing about my cat's personalities, although it does calm down some of the male instincts like roaming and spraying. It will be the best money you ever put out for your cat. As for the teeth, you might get a deal with your vet for a discount cleaning while he's under for the neutering (my mother in law did). Good for you for taking good care of your kitty! ♥

Hi, Try PDSA if you are on housing benefit you only pay a donation. Otherwise i would ring different vet's to find the cheapest, (i really think there should be a scheme, where people can take pet's to vet's for a minimum charge to have them neutered/spayed) Your cat wont lose his personality, in fact having him neutered will make him more loving and placid, plus he wont go missing while looking for she cat's. Good Luck.

You can make an appointment with your local animal shelter to get him altered. They usually have a monthly clinic for this. I brought my cats in as ferels ( wild cats) and they did it for free. They will usually make some sort of clip on their ears to mark them as neutered. Usually they cut off the tip of the ear or make a V cut somewhere on the ear. I always tell them that I am keeping the cat, and ask them not to do this. As for his bad breath - could be what your feeding him, but usually a bad odor is from an infection. Gums maybe.

In some areas there are things called SPAY WAGONS...i would call your local shelter and ask if they know any spay wagons or could point you to cheaper neutering. The spay wagon is basically a vet hospital on wheels. they come to an area near you and they keep your pet for the day. You drop your cat off in the morning and then pick him up at night...without his large man things....Your best bet is calling a shelter and asking them. Goodluck!!!

Most states has a cheap spay and neuture clinic. Callyour local humane society and they can help with that info. Also the bad breath......... is he eating canned food? If so thats probably the problem. Dry food is better and it cleans their teeth. Getting him neutured wont change his personality other than he might be a little calmer and wont run off. I would do it though! Unneutured male cats like to SPRAY! YUCK!

Cat's Protection League can help. You can clean a cat's teeth provided you wrap them in a towel and use motorcycle gloves. If Alfie gets vicious then pin him down with one hand over his chest and front paws and the other holding his back ones. He will howl like a Banshee but after a few times of having that happen he should calm down a bit.

Usually the ASPCA (RSPCA in Aussie) and the Humane Society offer very very affordable (cheap) neuterings. You can also call around. Vet clinics vary in their charges. Soem charge more than $100; while some will charge as little as $30.00.
