I think it's now a fact of life. It always has been, just not to the degree that it is now.

You may have heard of the deal that has been struck in Northern Ireland today. That has come after 40 years of terrorist violence against the British Army and the local population - there are many parallels with Iraq.

In Northern Ireland the British authotities consistently made public statements that they would never talk to terrorists, while at the same time negotiating in the background.

In Northern Ireland, we could have still been blowing each other to bits if it had not been for these secret talks and many more people would have died needlessly in the process - both innocent bystanders as well as young men sent there to fight on behalf of their country. Unfortunately it is the politicians who send these young men into a war that they can never win, simply because their political skills have failed - war is the end result of failed politics.

While it may be unpalatable, the Iraq situation can only be solved by making peace with your enemies - a difficult process, but the end result can be a peace like the one we have worked so hard to get today in Northern Ireland. The only solution is to demand that your politicians do their jobs properly and find a way out of the violence.

No. Terrorism has been around way before 9/11. As for major events there was the 1st attack on the trade center and the OK City bombing which was done by american terrorists. Terrorism isn't going anywhere soon.

As long as we pretend that each act is independent in execution but united in cause, we will be unable to combat it.

We have to face the reality that there is a definite unity of execution, trace the violence back to the source, and visit them with a violence that will deter all future acts.

We have to take the fight to the source.

Only the attacker can achieve victory. Failure to recognize this fact is why we did not ultimately succeed in Vietnam, and it is why there are two Koreas, and waiting too late to go on the offensive is why the Confederacy failed to survive the Civil War.

We certainly aren't going to reduce or eliminate terrorism by surrendering in Iraq the way the liberal traitors want.

it has always been arouind forever. it is this adm using it to scare us to fight for a war taht should have never been started. in iraq that is.

we the us were considering terrorist when we began a fight with the british. the isrealies our so call good pals taught the world how to do suicide bombers and now the PLO et al do it back. The Isrealies used to do it to the Brits after Brtain gave them Isreal. They killed them to get out.

Spain Ireland the UK have all had, France Germany. It is how how you deal with it that makes or breaks a nation.

Yes, it is here to stay. It has always been with us but it has became more prevalent in the middle east when all the radicals started gettin all the oil money to help them finance all the terrorist groups to make them more lethal. Another reason that we (western nations) should develop the coal to liquid fuel technology to help cut off the money going there.

When you can't change ideology of the muslims, the only way to get rid of terrorism is to fight. Exactly what Bush is doing.

It's been around for thousands of years. Can't imagine why it would stop now. That's not a joke, by the way. It really has been around that long. It has been a favorite weapon of empires as long as there have been empires. Or warlords. Or anybody else with a control fetish.
