This guy that goes to the same gym as me wrote sent me a message saying it is really hard to talk at the gym and he always feels like he smells after working out. Over the weekend one of my guy friends said I completely missed what that comment meant. He said the guy left it open ended for me to suggest going somewhere else. Is this true?

Yes thats true. He is basically saying that he wants to talk to you outside of the gym, since he hinted that it is hard to talk at the gym. I would just write him back and say 'well if you ever want to talk outside the gym that would be cool'.
