I see lots of different diets talked about on here. I have been on a very very simple diet plan. I count calories. I limit myslef to 1200 a day. Eat anything I want as long as I stay around 1200 calories a day. Drink only water and do not eat after 6pm. I have lost 45 pounds in 51 days. I am 6ft tall and started at 287 punds. I am at 242 now. My build is big so 185 to 200 pounds is my idea body weight. So, has anyone ever been on a similar diet and not lost weight?

YES. I have been trying to lose weight this way... I tried about a month ago for a month straight and lost maybe 2 pounds! That's it :( I was going to the gym on a regular basis too and doing lots of cardio. I'm not overweight though, but I could stand to lose 10 pounds.

But i realized I was probably eating too many carbs, even though my diet was very low in fat and calories. So now i'm starting over, eating about 1200 calories and low fat and LESS carbs, so hopefully that will work for me. You did great though, I'm glad it worked for you. Keep it up!

Yes! When you are not consuming enough calories in a day you body enters "starvation mode". Where your body starts to store all or part of your caloric intake as a defence mechanism. It works initially to lose weight, but then you hit a plateau point. Be careful as you can start to gain weight back if you do increase your intake drastically and quickly. To start losing weight again you need to add some exercise, there are many sites online to assist you with finding the correct number of calories you should consume in a day. Good Luck!

1200 calories a day is far to little for a man of your size. I would expect to lose a lot of lean muscle mass on that low of a caloric intake, especially if your fat intake is low. low fat diets severely decrease testosterone production. if you are not tracking your body fat I highly suggest doing so. not eating after 6 pm is complete rubbish and does nothing except extend the period of time that the body is in starvation mode from the last meal to the first of the next day. this does nothing except help to slow the metabolic rate more and cause a greater loss of muscle mass
