I had a boxing match but I didn`t get hit that much in the head because I was rolling my shoulders a lot but my opponent accumulated more points. What is the best defensive system for amateur boxing? Can you give me an example of a professional boxer that uses this system?

my friend i understand your fustration but you will have to learn to fight like an amature, i know the rules are bad but that's the way it is. just get sharper at what you do,impress the judges and move on,no showboating just box and you will be sucsessful, make thier rules work for you..good luck friend.

Watch Chris Byrd, James Toney, and Roy Jones Jr. Combine the three and you will have a good defensive system for a boxer at any level. In the amateurs it is mainly about out pointing your opponents. You have to use your jab, everything works off that on the offensive side.

Look up some of James Toney's fights. He uses the Philly Shell and shoulder roll.
I dont know much about amatuer boxing but I imagine it wouldn't work that well because the style will tend to have you take a lot of jabs (though they wont cause much damage) while avoiding big punches. Likewise, on offense you wont throw nearly as many punches (no jab) but they will be big counter-punches.

The best defence in an amateur fight is duck stick and move and thats it, okay so it isn't technically a defensive move but the amateur rules are so horrible that even if your whipping some other guy, he can still win the fight simply just by connecting with his glove so your best defence really is to stick and move.

Unfortunately, G.O.A.T is right. A good professional boxer to watch with this "technique" was Pernell Whitaker against Oscar De La Hoya. Pernell Whitaker was a great boxer but used the technique against ODLH in their fight.

The best defense is a strong offense. You win by scoring points, not by being defensive.

It doesnt work that well in amatuer because they just throw punches everywhere without stopping
