i've never traveled by train, how does it work from the time you get to the station like how do you get your ticket and everything? i know i'm lost lol.

you are a sad one man, heh.
you didn't specify where you plan to be riding trains... in europe, you generally find the train station somewhere in the middle of the city. you go there, go to the ticket booth and tell the staff where you want to go, and what class you want to ride in. You pay for the ticket.
Get a booklet with the train schedules - or look at the board for the schedules of the trains for the day. Verify the platform you need to go to, and hop on the train.
In some countries, you can buy the tickets out of an automated dispenser - like buying a subway ticket.
