No one makes that kind of argument. You are lying. Show us some proof to back up your strawman argument.

There are several reasons to assume that the Bible is the word of God. However, as a starting point, it would be silly to argue that the Bible is the word of God if the Bible itself said, "This is not the word of God". If the Bible did not claim to be the word of God, then atheists would accuse us of trying to impose something on the Bible, or otherwise read something into the text that wasn't there, if the Bible itself did not at least say so.

The full argument would take too long to develop here. Either you are lying about Christians, or else you are not paying attention.

The fact that you have to lie to support you point shows just how desperate that you are; people have been trying to discredit the Bible for thousands of years and have failed.

That alone tells you something.
-------
"Of course they made such claims as these, but anybody
can make claims. How do we know that they were truthful?
How can we be sure that it was not just some great hoax?
A. The numbers involved - The apostles, prophets, and
associates - the more involved, the less possibility
of a hoax, and especially when many writing and their
testimony agree.
B. They backed their claims with their lives.
1. If a hoax, a lie, what did they have to gain by
the lie?
2. They went to their death, continuing to make the
claims that they had always made.
C. The finished product - the Bible itself.
1. Cannot take time to develop this point.
2. To discuss its unity; its beauty; its uniqueness.
3. I find in it everything I could ever expect to
find in a book from God; I have no other
explanation for its greatness than that it has to
be from God.
4. And it has lived - It lived through the dark ages;
it was chained to the pulpits; those who first
translated it into common languages were tortured,
persecuted, and put to death; skeptic blows have
beat upon it, but it still stands.

I have never heard a christian make that argument. But yes, the argument you've come up with here does sound pretty stupid.
No, christians aren't taught to ignore logic in church. What kind of a person makes a generalization as ignorant as that?

The second stupidest argument
prove evolution true

atheist response: "the textbook says so"

JK

Well here is my response- The Bible is the most proven book in all of mankind. Many atheists have tried to prove it false but instead have became Christians. Plus all the stories are historically correct. Josephes, a Roman writer, recorded many things about Jesus too. It all matches. The Dead Sea Scrolls, the ancient myths of the flood, and everything!

Jesus loves me,
This I know,
Because the Bible tells me so.

Tell me when the indoctrination to authoritarianism and faith over reason starts!
Believe what you are told to believe. The bible is absolute truth, It says so.
Teacher, teacher, give us the news.
The first thing with brainwash victims is that they think they are in control and made their decision on their own.
Religion must be kept out of schools and away from children. They are far to vulnerable. They will believe anything they are told by an adult.

Edit to Lizzie. The lines in Josephus were inserted after the 10th century. Even the Catholic Church admits they are spurious additions. Most of the other references (All of two out of all of three) are highly suspect as well. Later writings telling what the Christian claims are are only repeating reports on what Xians believe. Much like if I said that the Heavens gate people thought they were getting a UFO ride. Hardly proof of UFOs.
Choose Reality.

Mr P - I am a Christian...I never refer to the Bible as proof of God's existence. In pure logic form...the Bible is true, lol....you can see it, its called The Bible...but I know you mean what the Bible says is true.

The "right" answer is that its true for me but I cannot prove its true for everyone.

No one teaches us what to answer...and maybe that is something that denominations need to address (some do already but I will not go into that).

It is pretty stupid to argue about religion, in general.
But for the rest of your question, religious study does often involve the study of logic. Ministers with a degree in theology have most likely learned methods of making and proving a logical argument.
Maybe instead of arguing with your peers, you could try to be understanding of them. Listen before you argue.

Since genuine christians live by faith , then i guess that would be a very logical answer,as they would see themselves as living proof to the truths(or untruths if you dont believe) that the bible makes claim to.As for logic one would assume that yes logic goes out the window when you are living by faith ,otherwise it would'nt be faith you are living by...savvy.

Depends on your definition of logic. It is not up to me to prove the validity of the Bible to anyone else other than myself. My relationship with God is all that matters. That is all He cares about. My relationship with Him and how I apply that knowledge to my life and to those around me. Children of God are simply to "put the bug in the ear and let God do the rest". Of course I am paraphrasing scripture here. A person who is shut off to the Word of God is not trully going to listen to the "proof"....

Almost as bad as the Muslim response, of, "everyone is wrong, we are right, even if we say we want peace, but instead, threaten to kill anyone who dares to draw a picture of our prophets".. Oh, and all that is true, because it is written in the Koran, too..

Thats like saying God himself wrote the Bible. What a joke. And no, they aren't taught logic. They are taught to blindly believe and not have any thoughts of their own.
