I am looking for ideas for things to do with my kids on Sunday. Right now we get up and get ready for church, go to church, come home and have lunch and then the kids watch TV. I want ideas that are in line with the idea of keeping the Sabath day holy, but are still uplifting.

In the summer, we take the kids on a drive up in the canyon or somewhere with lots of nature around, and then we go for a walk and talk about everything they are thankful for, and anything they think we need to work on as a family. We also go for walks around our neighborhood. We read stories about Christ, and other scripture stories, put into words the kids would understand. We sometimes have family things and that's fun and uplifting. We listen to church music and have a little lesson if someone didn't go to church- usually that's only if someone is sick.

Host a bible bowl either between family members or with your youth group from church. Give the children something to study (books of the bible for young kids, different chapters/verses for old kids) and then in a couple of weeks meet for the "bowl". Put together 2 teams of kids and then have a contest over the studied material. Either hand out prizes to the winning team or make the losing team serve the winning team dinner! Have fun!!!

Go on a Sunday drive and explore new towns, have a picnic, play games outside with them, go on walks together, have a craft day, what is more in keeping with the Sabath than spending time with your family? It works way more than them watching TV!!

Picnic in the park after church. Throw along some Frisbees or balls for the kids.

When my daughter was a little girl after church we would come home and discuss what she learned in Sunday school.and then we would do a craft project on that days lesson.

1) Museum, to learn new things (unlike church where you study superstitions)
2) Geocaching, to get outside and walk some (unlike sitting in church to be indoctrinated)
3) Parks, again to get outside
4) Outdoor concert, to hear some uplifting music (unlike church whose songs are meant to indoctrinate)
5) Bookcrossing, gets kids to read books and exchange them (unlike church that discourages reading non-church propaganda)

Ask them what they learned in church. And also answer any questions they might have about God.
