Have you every had malt balls? That is the taste difference. In the ice cream topping section of the store, you can buy malt to add to a milk shake. My husband and granddaughter love malts, I prefer a milk shake. There is definitely a difference.

You add the dry malt flavoring the make a malt.
A milk shake combines ice cream, milk and either flavored syrup or fruit, all mixed together in a blender. A malted milk is a mixture of milk, malt powder and, in some cases, ice cream.
Malt powder, by the way, is made by sprouting grain (the most commonly used is barley), drying it, and then grinding it fine. It's available with or without added flavorings such as chocolate.

i recognize all and sundry is telling you that that is a milkshake with malt ppwder further-purely theory you could wanna recognize what the malt powder is. it is truthfully malted barley, wheat flour and entire milk, all evaporated down right into a powder. Malting is a sort of turning out to be a grain germinate, then without postpone drying it earlier the plant develops. purely FYI!

There's sort of a grainy powder added to a malt. It's a bit thicker and not as clean of a taste.
