Please don't lecture me about eating right, exercising regularly and developing a healthy lifestyle, I've tried that before. I've also tried the South Beach diet, Atkins diet, Calorie diets, Lowfat diets, purging (not proud of it). I even spent thousands with the Jenny Craig program Its all failed. I have a chronic sweet tooth that I can't repress. In less than 3 months I've gained 30 pounds and I'm suffering from depression.

I really don't know what to do anymore. I'm 5'4" 176.5 pounds. I'd lose weight but then I'd sabotage myself and start eating sickeningly. I've been trying to fix my life and its a struggle. I've made the step to see a psychologist and psychiatrist. I'm getting treatment for my depression

But what really gets me down is my weight. I've made an appointment with a doctor to discuss my options. I'm thinking of trying Adipex or Xenical. Any advice please?

I live with my family so I can't really clean out my kitchen. I've tried having separating my food from them but I get tempted so easily. I've tried portioning too, thats what Jenny Craig is all about.

Most diets are useless - as you have found. But not necessarily for the reasons that they failed you.

Unfortunately the things that you asked not to be lectured about are the only sure thing, but they require a massive amount of willpower.

You have tried all the shortcuts, and come up with nothing. Now try what works.

Your depression is most likely tied to your self-image problems. Which are linked to your inability to lose weight. You need to decide what you are going to do. Continuing down the road you are on will never lead you to a solution.

Start by throwing away all of your medications, diet books, diet pills, and then clean out your fridge and cabinets. Donate what you can, throw the rest away.

Start walking. Walk at least a mile a day at first, try to work your way up to more. You may not like it - but if you want to do something about your weight problem, then you need to stop making excuses, and do something about it.

Drink nothing but water or fruit juices. No more sodas, or coffee, and especially no 'energy drinks'.

Eat nothing but fresh fruits and vegetables - no sweets, no fast food. You can eat meat, but stick to lean beef or chicken.

Get into an exercise routine - in addition to walking, make yourself do situps, crunches, jumping jacks, stretches, leg lifts, etc. - Ignore your weight, and instead, focus on building muscle, which burns fat even when at rest.

I know this isn't what you wanted to hear, but what you wanted to hear was some magic solution - unfortunately there isn't one. Write down your goals - and commit yourself to acheiveing them.

A lot of doctors dont understand the stress and they dont know about nutrition either, I would go to someone who specializes in that area before my doctor, I used a great guy who helped me through all my problems and weight loss. It has changed my life, literally. if losing some pounds of any description and inches is what you want then I would suggest you use a diet that is all natural and is rich in protein and vitamins, which is what the FDA recommends. I used a protein based diet after a friend who had lost a lot of weight with this recommended it to me. All the way through you feel great and energized, you also get great coaching and support along the way. The people are very friendly and gave me lots of great advice. I needed to lose 40 pounds and I did so with no problems. The products really work and you feel great whilst losing weight. I lost all my weight in less than four months and they have helped me to keep it off. I would definitely recommend using them. My sister did this also and lost 76 pounds in five months (She works out, I don’t). There is no pressure and they will even send you a load of free samples so you can try before you buy. The samples were the thing that initially convinced me that this was the right diet for me. You also a get a free complete health consultation with the samples, I just paid the postage and handling, but for what I got it was well worth it. You just to go to myhealthabc.com to register your details to get the free samples and the free advice etc and then they just call you up and ask you a few questions. It was so easy. Their main site is www.myhealthabcmall.com and you can see all the products and packages and order from their. Its nice to have contact with real people who care about you losing weight and improving your health. I am in better health now than I have ever been thanks to these products and I know that I will continue to keep the weight off with the help I have received. I hope this helps.

I'm not trying to be a downer, but you can't lose weight until you're ready to lose weight. I told myself for years that I was ready. Then I would sabotage myself and gain back everything I lost.

For some people, food is an addiction. Like any addiction, sometimes you have to hit rock bottom before you can get up. If you're truly ready to lose weight, know that it can be done.

When I was finally, mentally, ready to lose weight I joined weight watchers. I have lost 30+ pounds in very little time and, for the first time, I feel proud of myself.

You need to take the first step -- commit to a weight loss program. Get a support system -- family, friends. Tell everyone you know that you're doing it so they can help support you. Know that you're worth it and when you're ready you will lose the weight.

One last thing -- once you get started (really committed to doing it) it's addicting. You want to exercise. You don't want to make bad choices because you see such great results.

Best of luck to you!

I was in the same situation ,after both my parents died 8 months apart ,i went into a serious depression, i used food as my crutch and gained 70 lbs in 2 years, I finally processed the deaths and was ready to loose the weight, i thought about gastric bypass but decided against it,instead my doctos suggested Optifast, so i did that ,I have 5 shakes and two bars a day and it is monitored by a doctor and nutritionist and they also teach healthy eating habits, and stress management...in 8 weeks I have lost 52 pounds...the program really works and it is a wonderful way to get your life back on track

They say that "shrinking your belly" is a delusion nevertheless it honestly works. Start through restricting the scale of your quantities. Tell your self "I'm going to devour this after which if I'm nonetheless hungry, I'll devour a few extra." Wait to devour till you are hungry. Stop consuming after the starvation subsides. Drink water, usually thirst "feels" like starvation. Substitute a few meals for yet another. Have an apple. Don't feel approximately wasting weight, feel approximately how your garments are compatible. Notice how a lot more confortable you think with out being filled. There, that is a couple of matters you'll be able to do. Now, supply me 10. :-)

I think that it's the sugar that makes you gain weight. I know how you feel because I am also overweight now and I am having a hard time with my diet, but every body is DIFFERENT!!! keep that in mind and I think that you should not eat sugar at all... cut it out and don't eat any chips, no soda, and no sweets!! no fried stuff, and just healthy fruits, vegetables. I know it helps when somebody gives you portions of what you eat and how much you eat. Ask someone or control yourself by portion sizes and see if that helps.

clean out your kitchen of any junk food. Keep baby carrots with you and in your fridge. Just make sure that you don't have any unhealthy food in your house, then you won't be tempted.
