When you sell your own car, how do you handle test drives - go with them, take their license, do nothing, dont allow them. Granted they might leave their old crappy/stolen car with you. Then again, I dont want to go on a ride with some weirdo.

Take them for a drive.
Let them drive back.

I looked at my answer and thought to myself, "that's vague".

Take them for a short drive, and as you turn around to go back home, ask them if they'd like to drive back?

ALWAYS go with them, or if you're female, take someone else with you or have a friend, Dad, brother, etc go along. NEVER let someone take your car alone. If they don't return it, the police cannot help you, as it's not a stolen car. It has to go through the courts as a civil matter. Besides, you don't want some kid beating your car.

i think you should proabably go with them.....or take some kind of collateral....
i would rather the second personally, as it is less stressfull, but i understand why a seller would like to go along......
ususally people will have to get there somehow....theyll leave their own car there wont they???
and if they screw you you can always call teh cops....you know the plate #....
