i recently heard that divorce itself is not a sin, but the remarriage after that divorce that is the sin. during the same conversation it was mentioned that there are some sins that are not forgivable. i can't remember the exact term used, but i belive it started with an "s". i know that the bible says that God can forgive anything, but is the remarriage after divorce not forgivable because if you contine to be married, you continue to commit the sin?

Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, all sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is quilty of an eternal sin."
He said this because they were saying "He has an evil spirit.
(Matthew 3:28-30)

The only "unforgivable" sin is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 12:30-32.
Please note the context...Christ was speaking to the Pharisees, who were accusing him (Jesus) of preforming miracles by the power of satan. In that, they were denying the work of the Holy Spirit (this is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit).

Malachi 2:16 says "For I hate divorce, says the Lord..." but no where does it say he will not forgive you if you are re- married.
Jesus was the sacrifice for all of theses sins to be forgiven (except blasphemy of the Holy Spirit). That's what is so awesome that when you mess up (yes even murder) he will forgive you. That doesn't mean you don't have to face your punishment/consequences for your sins (prison time for murder) but you are forgiven.
If you read the story of King David (in the bible) he was a murderer, a thief and committed adultery but in all that he had a heart for God and was forgiven

Anything that takes your focus away from the Word of God is considered a sin by God. The things that take away your focus can bring you away from that word. All sin is forgiven if asked to be forgiven. Don't let that phrase fool you though. Those who trully want to be forgiven will be only by God's grace. Those who ask to be forgiven but do not trully repent of their ways will not be forgiven. You have to mean it in your heart.

The concept of divorce? Basically, if we were doing what we were supposed to be doing in the first place there would be no need of divorce. No relationship can last without three involved - two and God.

same as everyone else is telling you Blaspheme is the only unforgivable sin according to the bible.
As for the marriage thing, if you are married its not a sin. Most churches frown upon divorce and living together while unmarried and/or sex while unmarried.
Your best bet if you believe in God is to forget about organized religion, they all have the we are right, everyone else is wrong philosophy.

I am too tired for this. Blaspheme against the Spirit is attributing the work of the Spirit of God to the devil. They said Jesus performed his miracles using an unclean spirit. If you get the two confused you can never establish a connection with the Spirit of God because you don't believe he exists. If you can't believe you can't be eternally saved so you will (as most atheists and many agnostics believe) cease to exist when you die.

Lets let the bible to explain itself shall we, in 1 John 1:9 "IF" we confess our sins HE IS faithfull to forgive us our sins "AND" cleanse us from all unrighteousness. That is an important IF now when we know we are living in a known sin and DO NOT confess then God CAN AND WILL NOT forgive you a sin you won't confess and IF you do that long enough you won't want to "THEN" it is unpardenable, learn more free bible lessons www.itiswritten.com OR www.amazingfacts.org talk to me also wgr88@yahoo.com

99% of all sins are the creation of man so if they are or are not forgiven they are forgiven by man. And who cares what they think. Listen to your heart and if there is a god out there he will tell you what he thinks. Don't listen to the people around you.

Blasphemy is an unforgivable sin...but doubting is not blasphemy. Claiming to be God is blasphemy.
