These days, I feel that most people believe in God because that is the way they are brought up. Most people who follow a religion inherited it from their families. In the beginning, people probably started believing as a way to explain things that could not be done scientifically in historic times. It is human nature to want to explain everything. Religion also serves as a way to guarantee immortality of the human spirit. Who wouldn't want that? Either that or the Bible is true and people really witnessed the miracles of Jesus and what not.

It was part of the cultural revolution about 50,000 years ago, and it's in our genes. Apparently, religion or spirituality confers a reproductive advantage, to the point that the majority of the human species is religious or spiritual.

i don't. other people do because they can't think for themselves, or are in denial about the merits of science, or they want to conveniently explain the mysteries of life, or because they want a way to rationalize their own hatred and bigotry by providing examples from the dang bible.
