Never any problems, had the car since new with low mileage (just surpassed 50k, but for my last oil change i had them put in a synthetic blend. Since then, my check engine comes and goes intermittently.

mostly it stays on, but it will go off for a day or two then come back on for a week or so.

I know, i know(!) there are many many reasons why this light comes on, but anyone have think there might be a correlation?

Some cars don't do well on synthetic blends, maybe a sensor is faulty, have it checked by a mechanic. 50k miles is low for synthetics or blends, I'd go back to regular oil until the car is at least 75k miles

They probably didn't put in enough oil! Either that, or something got bonked by the typical hammer mechanics they have doing the oil change. Oil change shops are about as competent as a 10 year old high on crack when it comes to doing anything.

FYI All of these guys on here saying synthetic oil is "too thin" and "won't build pressure" don't know what they are talking about. If the viscosity was low, it wouldn't be able to make the 5-30 or 10-30 rating! Duh!

Synthetic oil lowers your oil pressure quite a bit. That's probably why the light is coming on. Take it to a reputable garage or the dealer and have them check it on the machine while the light is on, just to be safe.

Check the engine oil to be at the correct level. Maybe they didnt put enough oil in it. I would then check the oil pressure switches. There are two = high and low pressure. Also remember that if your VW has a turbo it uses different oil to that without a turbo.

Synthetic oil is too thin for the wear on you engine. Oil pressure is not maintained because of it.

Well yes and no. Did it have a change oil light and was it reset after the oil was changed.
You need to take it to auto zone and have it scaned for free
Aas you said it could be anything including that last oil change.
