File a police report for a stolen cat. Once you get the report, go over to the people's house and call the police and have them come over and knock on the door with you standing there.
If it were my cat, it would be inside so no one could steal it off my porch unless it managed to tear a hole in my wall.
And I would do whatever it took to get that cat back. No stone left unturned. It will die in their "care," and you will feel like total hell.

Hate to say it but there's a lot of this happening. They are the lawfyulk owners, you had guardianship. They prob missed their cat and wanted to care for her again, and it's their cat, they have the right to do so. I know it feels like it's just so wrong, but there's prescious little, if anything at all, that you can do about that cause there was no agreement reached between you, and may have been a very good reason they never came for their cat until now. The law leans in their favour I'm afraid.

Really, cats belong to no one except themselves. People who would abandon an animal are not going to see the harm in coming and taking it back. However, if they went onto your porch, then they trespassed, which is a seperate issue. Unfortunately, if there are no witnesses to this, or if the cat went with them willingly, there isn't anything you can do (legally... wink, wink).

Unfortunately I think according to the law whoever buys the cat owns it. Still try to get the cat back though - you can argue that you are the primary provider and cite negligence by your neighbors. Also, you could argue that they at least have to repay any money spent on care of their cat.

NOOO!! Not at all those ppl have no right to take care of an animal. Call the animal control or something like that and tell them what happened!!!Sorry if I`m a bit hasty but I think that those ppl are idiots and that cat needs a better life

Consult your local ASPCA or animal rescue chapter. You may be able to regain possession of the cat by getting them to investigate the neighbors for neglect.

my opinion...they stole your cat! If you had not cared for that pet for 7 months..it would probably be dead on the road somewhere.....I believe I would call the authorities and report the animal stolen.....possession is 9/10 of the law!

if you were leaving the cat outside and the neighbors knew it, they had the right to take it any time they wanted unfortunately there's nothing you can do about it.
