That is the latest cold going around. I had mine through Christmas, and January and February.

It came back on me three times after I thought I had got rid of it, and each time the dry hacking cough was the worst part of it. But my cough was so severe that my throat felt like raw meat. My solution was to use Chloroseptic spray. It was the only thing that enabled me to eat.

Apart from that, I just drank a lot of hot lemon and honey, and took acetaminophen for the pain.

I have used a homemade remedy from Central America. It is basically hot lemon water, honey, and a little vodka.

In a pot, heat the juice of 1 lemon and a bit of water, enough to fill a mug. When hot, add 3 Tbsp of honey to the pot and stir it in. In a mug, measure one shot of vodka, and fill with the lemon mixture.

It is soothing and relaxing. Hope you feel better soon.

Stay away from cough suppressants.

What you want to take is an expectorant.

Mucinex was just recently switched to OTC and is very good at loosening up phlem so you can cough it up and get it out of your lungs.

Hot showers always help. The heat and moisture help loosen phlem. Can always stick your head under a towel with a hot pot of water, but the shower usually works best.
