It's all well and good to have faith to give you hope that good things will happen. But to base a system of philosophical beliefs on faith doesn't make sense to me. Aren't you bothered by the fact that you've put trust in the unseen? Do you ever grow frustrated with not being able to prove what you believe?

While all of my questions will never be definitively answered, I find that rationally my belief is on solid ground. There are many things in the world we do not fully understand or “see”, yet we have no problems in believing them. For example, solar physics is not fully known, yet we all objectively accept, using faith and scientific discourse, the "fact" that the sun will rise tomorrow.

Persons that seek absolute proof of something are inconsistently applying logic and rationality, for they do not seek this absoluteness in all things. Hence, their epistemologies are not fully formed; they speak without proper understanding of the nature of knowledge.

Why is it we can believe in many things using rational analysis, even when what we believe is only partially known, yet when it comes to matters like a supreme being, we suddenly want the "show me beyond a shadow of doubt" proof?

As Aristotle once stated, "It is the mark of an instructed mind to rest satisfied with the degree of precision which the nature of the subject admits, and not to seek exactness when only an approximation of the truth is possible."

'Faith - Belief in a proposition or belief system without proof' from wiki.

It doesn't mean that there is no evidence. 'Proof' is not as typical as you assume in your question. I believe that there are very few things in your world which can be 'proved'. Science requires faith. Your education assumes that you have faith in the teacher, text, your own mind.

How can you claim that I have put my faith in the unseen as a 'fact'. Prove that I have not seen what is unseen to you. Since it is your claim, you have the evidence which can prove this as fact, correct?

You base your beliefs on faith as well my friend.

Everyone bases most of there life on faith be it religious or not. I plan activities for tomorrow on the faith that i won't die tonight. I invest in the stock market with faith that the stocks will go up.

I think you get my point. True faith is not merlely believing in something that you have no evidence for a.k.a. Blind Faith. True faith is based in something deeper, something indescribable to someone who has not yet felt the same. It is like trying to describe the taste of salt to someone who has no concept of the spice.

Like in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Harrison Ford had to take a leap before he completely understood how it was going to work out in the end. Faith is understanding that God will help us once we show Him we trust Him.

I hope that wasn't too preachy

It doesn't matter about proving what I know to others. It only matters about allowing God to show me the direction He wants me to go. It is not by blind faith that I follow my Lord. In fact, it is just the opposite. At least for me. I can not speak for those of other faiths and beliefs. My faith does not exist in hopes that good things will come to me. My faith exits with the hope that I can redeem myself and my soul in the eyes of my Creator. I strive to want to be that which He wants us all to be. To understand that concept of faith, one has to have faith in something. Whether it be kids, career goals, marriage, etc. For me, I have not put faith in the unseen for I have seen (and felt) the wonders that God has bestowed upon us all...

faith is a few thing that must be instilled in someone by way of the indisputable fact that's believing in some thing that you cant bodily see or contact yet that you understand on your heart is actual and exists. Alot of cases at the same time as issues are unlikely your way in existence and there are struggles that you cant look to undergo.. that perception that each thing will workout consultation and that the following day is going to be a extra valuable day is the purely ingredient that drives human beings to press on. Giving up appears like an option at cases because struggles at the same time as they're upon you look to large to manage. at this factor is the position the potential that faith promises you may be used to reassure your self that each thing will workout consultation for the perfect (no matter if it may no longer consistently be actual). that is the inducement and perception that typically helps human beings get by stumbling blocks. that's being positive and believing that each thing will workout consultation. those that lack faith from time to time are at a drawback mentally because they issue about the "what-ifs" quite of only being efficient that each thing will workout consultation as lengthy you do each thing on your potential and leave some thing as a lot as your faith... like i stated from time to time faith is all we've.

Well, look here. Why do some people believe in atoms and blackholes and the wind? You can't see them...but you see their effects. That is the way God is. You can't see Him but you see Him working on your life. Anyways, the Bible is the most proven book in the history of man. And if you doubt God's presence then you should hear this. My Bible teacher witnessed a miracle. His son's ankles were completely crushed by a car and after he prayed the blood went back into the skin and the bones straightened themselves up. and his boy got up and ran into the next room.

i do get fustrated. i am Muslim and i only get fustrated when the ppl sterotype type me because what the terrorist are doing make things worse for Muslim...this is what i get fustrated about. it doesn't bother me to put my trust in something unseen because i feel Him in my heart. and feeling to me is stronger than eyesight. i see with my eyes but i feel with my heart. i can't feel with my eyes. although i can feel what i see. i don't know if that makes any sense. if i see something i can either be happy or said...what i see leads to an emotion. but this is the base of the word faith...believing in something unseen. i get fustrated when the ppl claim that i have the right to be hated because of what the terrorists...my evil counterparts...are doing. i don't even agree with what the terrorists are doing!

Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Faith is a spiritual tangible and is not born of "a hope so" mentality.

Hope as biblically defined is "confident expectation" and is not synonomous with the modern day understanding of "Hope"
