It won't work, no lie. People with commitment fear will bolt. I have had this happen to me over half a dozen times.
Best thing you can do is just be with them, don't talk about the relationship or where it is going. Seriously.

What about relationships is he afraid of?
Tell him how much you love being around him and try making him feel as comfortable around you as possible in the sense that he can tell you anything.

If you give to much, he will feel crowded, so keep it light
The best way to make a person leave is tobe too intense or caring or giving. So be selfish and controling and you will win him over.

You're only hurting yourself. You can't make him feel the way you want him to feel and spending so much time with him will only make your feelings grow. Distance yourself a little. Who knows - absence makes the heart grow fonder!

basiclly, just don't call it a relationship! just say your friends doing friend stuff. For instance, you call him up and ask him if he wants to go to the mall with you and your friends who you will call after him, oops they can't go, oh well ;)
