If it gets your motivated, do it.
It's with ALL women, and it can be pretty nice. Personally I liked it because it got me out of the house. However, after awhile I grew bored and just joined a real gym. I now exercise for 60 minutes 3x/week and for 45 minutes 4x/week.
You have to do what's better for YOU.

I joined Curves; it worked well. When I joined, one could go daily. I did for a while but was taking care of my ill mother and did not usually have the time to go after work. I think the program worked well, however I did not care for their business practices. The only way I received the advertised "deal" was to have the monthly fee taken directly from my checking account. I signed up for this and committed to a year. It, of course, was not their fault that my mother started needing more care, so I continued to pay for the year. After the year was up, I had a heck of a time stopping them from taking it out of my account. I finally paid the $35 to the bank to stop any debits from Curves.
This was all a couple of years ago and things may have changed. I have gained weight and called them recently to get the prices-----but they "don't give the rates over the phone," so I am going to either go it alone or try elsewhere.
Good luck to you.

I was a member for awhile, but then it got VERY mundane for me. Same thing day in day out, same people, day in day out. I got the nerve up, and joined a regular gym. I joined LA Fitness, and LOVE it there, and the variety of the different classes that it gives me that are included with the membership. I will NEVER go back to Curves. Good luck though with what you decide. (PS-overall I found LA Fitness to be about the same price as Curves per month)

Do a trial visit before signing up for anything. Curves isn't for everyone. I don't think I would like it much myself...definitely not enough time for the gym in my opinion...but to each their own and I have heard some success stories - but usually from older women or those that are really overweight.

It's good! I lost 40 lbs by going to Curves 4 times a week and on the weight watchers diet.

It's good for older people that don't want to deal with changing the weights on weight machines, don't want to attend group exercise classes, or don't want to use cardio equipment like the treadmill, stairclimber or other cardio machines like that.
Might want to try a few gyms out. Most places have a free trial period for a week or a few days.

My sister loves it there-- it's very comfortable for women with some extra weight. But, if you are politically minded, keep in mind that the mother corporation is owned by some fun-duh-mentalists.

you should go a visit and see if you like it. Some gyms aren't for everyone but I do know people that are happy with it.
