im sure that a lot of other us citizens would agree with you..but why don't you look to the actual soliders to see what they would prefer to do. My brother has been in the military for about 6 or 7 years now and he has already done 3 tours in Iraq. He leaves in december for his 4th. He loves what he does and he would actual prefer to be there than to be home because he enjoys being there to help his brothers and sisters in war. If you ask most of the US soldiers.,.they will let you know that they don't want to just "leave" until the job is finished. Will the job ever be finished? we don't really have any way of knowing at this point. But if the troops just get pulled out of Iraq to "see what happens" then they have been there fighting for no reason. We have resolved nothing. Men and women have died and for what? If we leave there before the job is done---nothing. My husband is excited for his first tour because he wants his piece of "the sandbox" as they call it. They train for a reason. They do what they do to learn to kill, fight, protect, and to provide freedom for us back here in the US. If they never get to use their skills then what is the point of having the military???
This is definetly just my opinion and the opinions of the many soldiers i know...and i know there will probably be a lot of people that disagree and give me thumbs down. But--i really wish the media would show the good things that happen in Iraq and the happy times that a lot of our soldiers have while they are there. We are doing good things..the media just doesn't show anything but the people that get injured or hurt. I really wish they would tell us how many of those soldiers are the ones that gave up and killed themselves in those numbers...because the death toll would change. Its about having the peice of mind to do the task given. ..again. all my opinion but.....there you have it.

Do this and there will be no funds to invade a second time if we find out that leaving was wrong. You are talking of saving lives by pulling out but I think it would have an opposite effect. Everyone would not leave at the exact same time and so the ones who were last would be put at great risk and then there is also the Iraqi people to consider. They would be caught in a power struggle between the different warlords. Look at the killing fields of Cambodia and use that as an example

Without trying to sound too sarcastic, the question could be asked, "Why don't you just leave your car unlocked in a bad part of town?"
It may be nice to "feel" that things would work out OK, but reason and logic tell us that it would be a foolheardy act.
Similarly, if we pull out of Iraq, before the Iraqi government and people are fully ready and capable to defend themselves, HOPING that nothing bad would happen is also a foolheardy act.
You can hope that trust would prevail all you want, but Reagan said it best, Trust, but verify.
I want out of there too. And as soon as the job is done. But I am not for leaving in the HOPE that the islamic fascist won't move in and take over. When I want to get out is when I know that no matter how much they try, they can't take over.
Then the job will be done.

i would support this or a huge troop surge to finish the job , we need to leave now and accept defeat or clean house in about 7 days with 300,000 more troops . Occupation is definately not working . The question would be how much of a threat is the enemy , how many attacks has the government stopped that we don't know about . One thing is for sure , if we leave , the enemy will unite and attempt to attack , but are they that much of a threat to stay and defeat them , no one can make that decision exept the ones in the field and with the cia intelligence

The issue of continuing the war should be put up for a vote by the American people. First though, we should let other nation's tell us what is really going on in Iraq to let us make an informed vote.
We need true information, not corporate propaganda. We need to hear from the Iraqi people. Conserves calm down, you are being lied to even if you can't deal with it.

I don't know about leaving right away, but it should have stopped being our fight, when Saddam was toppled and allow a multinational force to come in, perhaps from moderate Arab states and work out the power sharing between the Shiites, Zunis and Kurds, this war did not have to go on this long. George W. Bush said the U.S. would handle it themselves and look where we are under his watch.

Pride has nothing to do with it. We already know what will happen if we leave. Iran will take over Iraq and become twice as big. Then the fighting will spill over to the shores of the United States.
Since we've been there, no terrorists have been able to attack America. We either fight there or here. I choose there.

Exactly.
Declare victory, and get the f**k out.
We could see what happens there, and focus our attention on other problems in the world, instead of continuing to flog a dead horse.
The right-wing noise machine would have you believe that withdrawing from iraq would be admitting defeat, and would embolden the terrorists, who would then attack us.
These are the same people who have been forecasting the end of American civilization now for several decades. First it was the commies, and after the cold war ended, they needed a new boogie man.
Terrorists are it now.

we should have waited a little bit long to start the war
'support the troops not the war' it tells the troops that we don't support them, because the war is the job.
the soldiers who lost their lives were fighting, protecting, and taking out the bad guys for the people of that courtry, and for us
